....and there's nothing in scripture to tell us it's anything other than real wine-the alcoholic kind. Nothing. Zippo.
The Bible's been translated 16 bazillion times, and they ALL say "wine".
Only people who think Christ made a mistake (like you) twist and turn to tell us it isn't real wine so you can rationalize your fear of booze. Don't make your problem everyone else's problem.
Sorry Dan, I believe you are wrong. Jesus is a Holy Lord and King.
the Bible calls strong drink that makes a person drunk unclean.
Jesus would not drink something that is unclean. or give it to someone else.
You have seen what ferment wine does to people, among priest and other clergymen, among family and friends.
Dysfunctional families, strong drink is a curse, God freed us from curses, not give us them.
If you want an excuse to drink don't use Jesus as your example,
ferment wine is the devils brew.
I don't drink Dan, but I have seen the evil because of the result of it. I hate it with a passion, it sucks the life right out of people.
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, ferment wine destroys the liver, brain cells etc.
Jesus won't give us fermented wine, or would ok us drinking something that would harm our bodies.
Do you smoke Dan .

We do ... but the devout believers of the day no-doubt took what they mentally digested as truth, as being of extreme importance.

Catholics and Protestants dis all the gods in other religions as false.

However, because Catholics and Protestants believe in the same image of a god, they can't possibly dis the god as false ... so they resort to dissing each other's beliefs "concerning the god" as false.

Long before Christianity, can't you just picture each group in varying cultures that believed a savior was coming again, arguing about which ones would be saved and which ones would be disowned by the gods???
Other tellers of fortunes probably argued over which ones saw the correct pictures of the future in the crystal balls.
To brag about knowing the future is to overestimate the ability of the self.
if true and a savior was really coming, the ones who got saved would be the people who did not follow mans phony religious groups.

Arrogance in devout religious believers often motivates them to the certainty that they own the one and only truth.

As you believe you have control over the words in your bibles, be careful that the words don't wind your minds up comparable to pretzels.

You might not be as wise as you perceive is the case.

Throughout much of the nineteenth century, psychiatrists and ordinary citizens agreed that one of the chief causes of mental illness was religious excitement.

To believe that one owns truth, is not a good plan.

Such impudence might backfire on those who (through claiming knowledge where it does not exist) try in VAIN to overstep human ignorance.

THERE IS A STANDARD FOR THE CHRISTIAN...

It is the BIBLE...AND within it is God's plan of redemption..

THERE IS NO NEUTRAL STANCE FOR A HUMAN BEING

YOU HAVE QUOTED YOUR MASTER,...

SO IT IS VERY OBVIOUS WHOM YOU SERVE..

JESUS SAID

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

St. Peter ... continued
And say, St. Peter, my sight is dimmed
But I don’t like the way your whiskers are trimmed
They’re cut too wide and outward toss
They’d look better narrow and cut straight across
Well we must be going, our crown to win
So open St. Peter and we’ll pass in
St. Peter sat quiet and stroked his staff
But in spite of his office, he had to laugh
Then said, with a fierce gleam in his eye
Who’s tending this gateway, you or I?
And then he rose, in his stature tall
And pressed a button upon the wall
And said to the imp who answered the bell
Escort the lady around to hell
The man stood still as a piece of stone
Stood sadly, gloomily, there alone
A life-long settled idea he had
That his wife was good and he was bad
He thought if the woman went down below
That certainly, he would have to go
That if she went to the regions dim
There wasn’t a ghost of a chance for him
Slowly he turned, by habit bent
To follow wherever the woman went
St. Peter, standing on duty there
Observed that the top of his head was bare
He called the gentleman back and said
Friend, how long have you been wed
Thirty years (with a weary sigh)
And then thoughtfully added, Why?
St. Peter was silent, with head bent down
He raised his hand and scratched his crown
Then seeming a different thought to take
Slowly, half to himself he spake
Thirty years, with that woman there
No wonder the man hasn’t any hair
Swearing is wicked, smokin’s no good
He smoked and swore, I should think he would
Thirty years with that tongue so sharp
Ho, Angel Gabriel, give him a harp
A jeweled harp, with a golden string
Good sir, pass in, where the angels sing
Gabriel, give him a seat alone
One with a cushion, up near the thrown
Call up some angels, to play their best
Let him enjoy the music and rest
See that on finest ambrosia he feeds
He’s had about all the hell he needs
It isn’t just hardly the thing to do
To roast him on earth and in future to
They gave him a harp, with gold strings
A glittering robe and a pair of wings
And he said, as he entered the realm of Day
Well, this beats cucumbers anyway
And so the scripture had come to pass
That “The last shall be first and the first shall be last!”

It's been said that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.

From my perspective, insanity might stem from humans being so arrogant as to believe they ARE the stuff of genius.

The more arrogance pumped into psyches, the more the psyches over-load and ultimately can cause "mental implosion."

As humans, it is our nature to be arrogance-containers. But to humble the self somewhat, we are best to admit that imagination can't know the future.

This is part of a song that was popular in my youth.

In their imaginations the ex-Jew Catholics "invoked" a supposed savior they called Jesus as a stand-in for their new Christian (offshoot-of-Judaism) religion.
Ignatius was a Catholic.
>>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>
And, in his writings, Ignatius uses the word Christianity, and he uses it ... in contrast with the word Judaism. We have here for the first time a polarity, a contrast. There is something called Judaism and there is something called Christianity, and true Christians will make sure that what they believe and what they do, is in fact Christianity and it's not Judaism. That is explicit and unambiguous for the very first time in the writings of Ignatius around the year 110 or 120 B.C....

June VanDerMark:

Sorry, the pbs website won't let Christians in....Haha, so I couldn't see the propaganda.

But actually the first use of the word Christian was in the city of Antioch.(Acts 11:26 ...The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.) And Evodius who was Bishop of Antioch, died in about 69 A.D. was the first Christian.

The misinformation then of your website, should cause you to question its intent in the future.

Be careful that your self-perceived "genius" doesn't outsmart you.

My guess is religious insanity is more common than people recognize.

The idea that Protestants and Catholics could be so jealous over having the attention of the same supposed god as to kill each other century after century ... bespeaks of people who lost all contact with any "sense" of reality.
