The Church teaches that, yes.
And the Church also teaches that God works through people to minister His graces.
That is a hard concept, I know, when the "It's me-n-Jesus" thing has been so overly emphasized.
No, I know what your talking about, we went to couples theropy, we confessed many sins and received much healing through prayer.

A self-righteous Catholic on another thread stated that I had killed both my daughters.
She was angry at me for daring to study and post on my beliefs of what the Catholic church meant and means to me.
I understood from where she came. She was taught to defend her cult, as are most all others in their cults.
It's the way the theologians kept everyone divided and fighting among each other.
Did you lose two daughters? That's terrible. How did they die?

There are many, many religions in the world, no doubt about it.
But there is only one God ,one faith, one baptism,
Its comes from the throne of God, not from mans thoughts.
Religions control people, from what the death of Jesus on the cross freed us from, "BONDAGE"
Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.
God gave us free will man has taken that away with their religious doctrines.

June you are believing what, what you have chosen to believe what man has made god out to be; not what God or who God real is.
Your hate of Him is very clear, I am sorry about your daughter June, or what the catholic church or other religious denominations have done, It wasn't God.
Why do you keep blaming a person who you don't believe in.
Your argument is stupid, what do you care if a person believes in God or not.

With a minister?

If so,(and glad your experience was beneficial), why is this OK, but Catholic belief in the role of the ministry beyond comprehension?

It seems to be a matter of degree with you guys. They can baptize you, marry you, bury you, help at the sessions you describe above, and preach scripture to you (despite the collective notion amongst you that you should read the Bible and interpret it yourselves), but anything else, despite a scriptural basis for it, is somehow "bad" or "wrong"?

Of course. Christians used the handy word "heresy" to kill millions of people. And as the theologians were the ones to decide what was heresy, the fires at the stake were burning bright non-stop in one place or another ... wherever the Christians resided.
The Christians would hand out bibles and then take over the lands and other possessions of the locals.

The lawyers of the man who was guilty stated they knew he was guilty but they were not allowed (without permission from the real killer) to divulge the information to the court.

And to top it off, the real killer was in the same prison with the innocent man on other charges, when asked to confess by the innocent man, he laughed in his face.

This story (in part) reminded me of the priest who also kept his silence while a man he knew was innocent of murder spent ten years in prison.

Some thing is very wrong with these two systems.
