The Papacy is documented in every decade since Peter.
Pope Clement wrote authoritatively to the Churches and they listened to him. This was done while some of the Apostle were still alive.
I'm assuming the Church in the East would also have listened to Rome if any disputes erupted. Perhaps this is why the remarkable similarities between the two Churches exist today, 2,000 yrs later.
Plus, Herm, any group of people need one leader. Whether its a coach on a football team or a Bishop. Jesus Christ did the responsible thing by leaving someone in charge of the day to day operations of His Church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I would have done the same thing. One Bishop; One Faith; One fold.

All of us Christians should face the historical fact that the Church began in the East as Orthodox.Jesus was born inthe East and He died in the East. All of the Apostles were from the East and the Ten Comandment were received in the East. The Orthodox church was the beginning of the formal Church. If you study the historical time line of the formal churches{various religions} you will note that all of t
hese are missionary off-shuts of Eastern Orthodoxy.
However what is importnat is for us to Believe in our Lords teachings. So Be It!!!!

Just admonishing the sinner. It's one of the spiritual works of mercy. I'm not sure God hears the prayers of the unrepentant so maybe you should go to confession before you try praying for anyone else. Time to go before you drag me down with you.
And what makes you think you are better than me? Ever hear of pride? If indeed you are so worried about (me dragging you down in sin)then do not reply to any of my post.It was you that first attacked me....I will still pray for you...remember what Jesus said"he who is without sin cast the first stone"

Can you imagine a Jew from those days not having a wife chosen for him by a very young age and not being married! I'm amazed they didn't kill Jesus earlier. They would have been very suss bout that.

Really Clay? Then there would be a record in Scripture of the apostles keeping Sunday. There isn't. They never knew what a mass was. They celebrated the Last Supper. Not a mass ... far from it. No candles or bells. No altar.
I suggest the RCC is concocted on tradition fables and lies.
BTW, many other well known people also see the RCC in Revelation.
'Breaking Bread'(acts 20:7) is the Holy Mass. Sunday. This is what was taught. You guys showed up 1800 yrs later and undid it.

If you're interested in what the Apostles actually taught instead of what Ellen White taught, you can read the writings of their Disciples.

Here is what Saint Ignatius - who studied under John the Apostle had to say:

"Be not seduced by strange doctrines or antiquated fables, which are profitless. For if even unto this day we live after the manner of Judaism, we avow that we have not received grace...if then those who have walked in ancient practices attained unto newness of hope, no longer observing Sabbaths, but fashioning their lives after the Lords day, on which our life ALSO arose through Him and through His death which some men deny....how shall we be able to live apart from Him? It is monstrous to talk of Jesus Christ and to practice Judaism. For Christianity did not believe in Judaism, but Judaism in Christianity"!!

Ignatius to the Magnesiums

Translation: If you want to be a Jew than observe Saturday.

The wickedest cult ever is undoubtedly the RCC. Popes have been corrupt, murderous and obhorrently evil throughout its history. At one time the papacy was known as the pornocracy.
Evil men historically.
Revelation clearly portrays a global (universal) power which rules over the kings of this earth.
No other power than the RCC can claim this. The dark ages 538ad to 1798ad were clearly the spawn of this evil system.
The Jesuits, seen to be lamb-like are a bunch of maniacs determined to wipe out all Protestants whenever and by whatever means they can.

It is clearly the power which has no other like it and which sits in Rome which Revelation depicts.

Only a stubborn Roman Catholic would deny this.
I should say, a stubborn ignorant and stupid Roman Catholic who loves tradition above the Bible and who believes popes have the power to change God's law would deny this.

Nonsense Herm. Complete ignorant nonsense. All data shows otherwise. You should know better than to think something so ridiculous.

Antichrist is a CHURCH:
In the Bible a WOMAN symbolizes a CHURCH. See such verses as 2 Corinthians 11:2, Isaiah 54:5-6, Jeremiah 3:14, Ephesians 5:31-33, etc. Christ is represented as the Bridegroom (Matthew 9:14-15, Revelation 19:7). An unfaithful Church commits spiritual adultery (Ezekiel 16:28, 32).

Antichrist is a CORRUPT Church:

Just as a pure woman represents a pure Church, a corrupt woman represents a corrupt Church. The woman in white is Christ’s bride, the true Church. But Revelation 17:1, 15-16 and 19:2 call this second woman a “WHORE” or “HARLOT”, a fallen Church teaching false doctrines.

Antichrist is a LARGE, WORLDWIDE Church:

She sits on “many WATERS,” explained as being many “peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.” Revelation 17:1 and 15. The very word catholic means “universal,” and the Papal Church has the largest, most widespread membership in Christendom.
Antichrist is a RICH Church:

This symbolic wicked woman, this corrupt Church is a rich one with gorgeous display. Revelation 17:4 says she’s “decked with GOLD and PRECIOUS STONES and PEARLS, having a GOLDEN cup in her hand.”

Which Church would you say is the richest in the world all the while professing poverty?
The RCC perhaps?

Your heartfelt beliefs are not facts. We acknowledged it, we have paid heavily for it. We have worked on it and still are. What you are cultivating is hate. Just read seres posts and the ones posted by the Protestants who cheer you on when you attack the church.

I am still going with the Orthodox statement I posted that you have no right to make claims like you do. The initiatives have been extensive and the church is global in nature. I would suggest you focus on the sickness in your institution rather than grandstanding with heartfelt beliefs rather than facts.

All churches, schools, insitutions need guidelines, practices and education and universal policies to deal with these issues. The best way to deal with offendors is something noone has an answer to. 3 month sentences are no answer.

Seminarians are now administered tests before being allowed, reporting policies, etc. have been implemented, training, laity councils to investigate, the involvement of civil authorities. We posted several times the numerous things the church has done and continues to do. The results of those efforts have already shown very positive results. I would like to see any institution that has done as much as the church.

To quote Pope Benedict, "This evil must be purged from our midst."

Well, Im not stubborn!

I can certainly see a whacked out radical fundie when I see one!

You should be more concerned with what will happen to you for adding to Johns Prophecy.

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the Prophecy of this book. If any one adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book"
Rev 22:18

Tiger Lily says John was prophesying the Catholic Church. John does not say that! In fact, no one ever thought of such an absurdity until a couple hundred yrs ago.

I'd say you're about as brave as can be; amazingly bold to thumb your nose at the Apostle John's direct warning.

The first thing an institution in the spotlight does is exactly the things you mentioned.
1. make many speeches condemning the abuse
2 list all the new training provided to members (clergy)
3. list the preventative measures taught the laymen
4 new mission statements and policies

I have seen this many times. When you start seeing top brass being escorted away in cuffs as a result of the institution itself assuming responsibility now we are talking. When the books are open now we can know the extent of the problem and extent of the progress. I have been doing this a very long time.
