"BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ and you SHALL be saved."
"Shalt" in Greek is better interpreted 'MUST' or 'WILL HAVE TO BE'.
In other words, if you truly believe on Him, you MUST or WILL HAVE TO BE SAVED.
God doesn't make it impossible for us to 'come home'...
KayMarie
Agree K. On the contrary He makes it so EASY. And why wouldn't He, It is His desire for us to be saved. In fact He went to 'great pains' to allow us to come to Him. So how foolish would it be for us to think that He would now somehow want to make it difficult?

The bible does not error! It may, at times, seem to contradict itself but that is because those "self-interpreting teachers, preachers and lay-people "pull and extract" bible verses out of context, to "make them mean ONLY what they want them to mean!" The TRUE INTERPRETATION OF the BIBLE was handed down to all Christians by the Early Church Fathers, who formed the Canon of Scripture in 382, 393, and 397 AD. The TRUTH begins with Jesus establishing HIS One True Church in Matthew 16:13-21, the same Church that is mentioned over 30 times in the New Testament---the same Church that begin with the 1st Church in Antioch--Acts 2--the same
Church that (again) is spoken of in Acts 2 as an authoritative, heirarchical, visible Church with Bishops, priests, deacons and elders---the same Church that was expanded (in Pauls writings) to Corrinth, Galacia, Ephesus, Colosse, Thessalonica and on and on recorded throughout Sacred Church History. The TRUTH begins with God, through His Son Jesus Christ (in the unity of the Holy Spirit)---then through Jesus' Church from the "unwritten word of Traditions" passed down by Jesus to His Apostles to the expansion of HIS One True Catholic Church--the Bride of Christ.
And where is that HOHO?

Baptism doesn't guarantee salvation. No, I don't think the bad popes, if they died unrepentent, are in heaven. Many self-described 'born again' and 'saved' evangelicals are ungodly and unchristian. That's why belief in OSAS is so dangerous.
RESPONSE:...Interesting. Then what do you believe was the state of the RCC during the reign of these ungodly men? Do you believe that a non-christian is indwelt with the holy Spirit? Do you believe that the Holy Spirit guides lost people? Do you believe that one of these lost, unchristian people could be the 'VICAR of CHRIST'?

You are resisting His drawing.

You mean like this:
Deuteronomy 22:20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:

21 Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Do you or anyone you know go looking for "tokens of virginity"?

You may have noticed that god is very interested in girls' virginity, but not so much in the boys. Why is that?

But your god does love the boys' foreskin!

1 Samuel 18:25
And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

Any idea why foreskins were such a big deal to god in the early part of the bible, but not in the later parts?

When one is baptised in water, aren't sins washed away?
That inludes, past, present, and future....How far into the past?
Two questions:
What about original sin?(Isn't it in the nature of fallen man to sin?)
When does one start to sin after they are born.? Day one, day 8, day 10...?
I think where I am going with these questions is that it is the Grace of God that saves.
Another way to put it is that God's Faithfulness is vaster than the Creation, and man's faithfulness is at best but a mustard seed....
Why can't you believe that a baby cannot be baptised and saved? Have the faith of a mustard seed?
Do you think it is the water that washes sins away?
Robert...thank you for being so respectful....

You wrote:

Yes, that is what baptism is for...plus, you receive a gift from God...the "gift" of the Holy Spirit aka the "indwelling" of the Holy Spirit...Acts 2:38...

You wrote:

Until you know the difference between good and bad...right and wrong...or understand what sin is....SIN IS AN ACT COMMITTED BY THE INDIVIDUAL....

Deuteronomy 1:39

39 And the <<<little ones>>> that you said would be taken captive,~~~your children who do not yet know good from bad~~~—they will enter the land. I will give it to them and they will take possession of it.

If children are not old enough to decide against Christ, are they old enough to decide for Christ?

Can an infant/small child act on this with his heart?

Romans 10:9-10

9 If you declare with YOUR MOUTH,“Jesus is Lord,” and believe in YOUR heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is with YOUR heart that YOU believe and are justified, and it is with YOUR MOUTH that you profess YOUR faith and are saved.

It DOES NOT say "father's mouth, mother's mouth, godfather's mouth, godmother's mouth, grandfather's mouth, or grandmother's mouth....it says YOUR MOUTH.

You wrote:

What about original sin?

This is where you fall into false teachings as there is NO such thing as original sin...

We DO NOT INHERIT the SINS of our fathers...

Ezekiel 18:18-20

18 <<<<<But his father will die for his own sin,>>>>> because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people.

19 “Yet you ask,‘Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live.

20 ~~~~~The one who sins is the one who will die.~~~~~[[[[The child will NOT share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child.]]]]] <<<<<The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.>>>>>

You wrote:

When they know the difference between good and bad, right and wrong, and they have been TAUGHT what SIN is.....

Robert...would you let your 12 or 13 year old child get married???

I know my answer would be NO...

Marriage involves a lifelong commitment to your spouse that God has joined together....

It is the same with baptism....baptism involves a lifelong commitment to God....one commits for life to the God, who has joined together....

If your 12 or 13 year old child would not understand the commitment about marriage, then how would this same child understand the nature of such a commitment to God?

BOTH MARRIAGE AND BAPTISM ARE VERY SERIOUS COMMITMENTS!!!

We (as parents) are responsible for teaching our children when it comes to the seriousness of these commitments.

Look at this verse, Robert...

Numbers 5:31

31 The husband will be <<<innocent>> > of any wrongdoing, but the woman will ~BEAR~ the *consequences* of her sin.’”

Sin is an act committed by the individual...

If there is any "trash talking" on this forum, from the very beginning, it has been from Protestants, agnostics and athiests (like you) who are "consistently, beligerently and obnoxiously, condemning, judging, attacking and distorting the TRUTH against the Catholic Church, what it believes and what it teaches, and proclaims as the TRUTH!!! Don't expect me to "pat you on the back" when you and others distort the TRUTH and attack our Catholic Faith as well as my personal relationship to Jesus Christ.
Why do your amazing insights cause you to hold so much hatred for most Americans?

I say again -- why not walk your talk and live in a society that has a majority of "good" Catholics like yourself, and much fewer hated Prots?

When does a person like yourself put your beliefs in action?

Answer: never, because deep inside, you realize the absurdity.

So keep blowing smoke.
