Benedict resign because he didn't address the whole Church sex scandals well. As for his friend Pope Francis he is so far doing the same thing. Nothing as changed.

Because he's a fan of Sarah Palin.

He resigned because he is very old and frail and cannot be as active like he needs to be.

So... you're saying that Ratzy's busy schedule of running 'The Organization' didn't allow him time for his Zumba and Pilates?<resisting adding any Pontus jokes here>

Papal resignation linked to inquiry into 'Vatican gay officials', says paper

A potentially explosive report has linked the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI to the discovery of a network of gay prelates in the Vatican, some of whom the report said were being blackmailed by outsiders.

The pope's spokesman declined to confirm or deny the report, which was carried by the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.

The paper said the pope had taken the decision on 17 December that he was going to resign the day he received a dossier compiled by three cardinals delegated to look into the so-called "Vatileaks" affair.

Last May Pope Benedict's butler, Paolo Gabriele, was arrested and charged with having stolen and leaked papal correspondence that depicted the Vatican as a seething hotbed of intrigue and infighting.

Yup --- and personally I think that butler should have been commended, not arrested or charged with anything. He did a good service if he indeed removed any of the vatileak documents.
Dang romanists have been hidden long enough.
