Society becomes just through the actions of individuals, not the collective action of the government. And as a conservative, I don’t place my “crude and naive trust” in anyone but myself. As a Catholic, I believe the responsibility for my ultimate salvation is mine and mine alone.

Please don’t excommunicate me.
"excommunicate"? That & 50¢ will buy you half a hamburger; less tax..

Hey chickie - if you're as much a critical thinker as you make yourself out to be, then what makes you think you NEED rome to get to heaven?

While it was a grave error for the Bishops to elect a Leftist like Francis as Pope, it is also disgusting to see this type of disinformation given much credence. The anti-religion bigots at Topix love this type of confusion and willingly attack it. Atheism always advantages self doubt and anything cruddy.

A healthy discussion of the spiritual impact on charity always being more creatively impacting in social realms, than the wastefulness of governmental bureaucracies, would not sink to a level of personal selfishness and puffed-up perceptions of personal impact on salvation. The Catholic writer will find that Grace and Grace alone in responsible for her ultimate salvation. A Pope, or the writer focusing on false Leftist assumptions gives Leftists undeserved credibility.
