Headline is a bit problematic.

Pope Francis didn't say in the Jesuit interview that the "rules" have vanished. Bad reportage there and bad headline here.

Good article, though.

Bp. Tobin's quote was good-

Being a Catholic doesn't mean having to choose between doctrine and charity, between truth and love. It includes both. We are grateful to Pope Francis for reminding us of that vision," he said.

The pope seems to say everything while simultaneously saying absolutely nothing.

I call it flip flopping.

It would be "flip-flopping" had he said earlier that the Church no longer held it's prior position on homosexuality or abortion.

The position never changed.
