The early records of Saulian christendom clearly and unequivocally speak of female deacons and presbyters (priests).

"That's because in the current media ecology of religion and public life, sex sells and gender gets a nod...."

The author of this article is being insulting, whether or not she realizes it. Sexual orientation is not about sex, it is about how people form sexual bonds. I think she should be intelligent enough to realize the distinction!

If the Pope would preach and teach what the Bible says, he would be excommunicated, he has no choice but to try to win the affection of perverts, classifying them as Christian in heart.

Diane Winston, the author of this piece, has a far bigger problem than the Pope, given her position as instructor of media and religion at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School.
Despite her position, she apparently operates under the notion that Pope John Paul II originated the Church teaching RE: female ordination.
I'm not a religion professor and I know that's not correct. Glad I'm not paying USC tuition for my kid.
