I left the Catholic Church quite some time ago, when I realized that the Vatican and other Church officials were protecting the Priests who molested children. And since this Pope continues to protect them, I can't respect him and can't perceive him as a servant of God.
The Catholic Church has been losing members for a long time, and unless the Vatican creates a solid moral base within the Church, membership will continue to decline.
Martin Luther saw the lack of morality in the Vatican and other Church leadership, and disagreed vehemently with some of the immoral Church policies, which were the reasons he left the Church and started the Lutheran Church. And I can't see where the morality of the Vatican has improved one iota since then.
