There are 894 comments on the The Washington Post story from Nov 28, 2013, titled If Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin dona t like the pope, they wona t care much for Jesus. In it, The Washington Post reports that:

In response to Pope Francis' first Apostolic Exhortation , in which the pontiff denounced "trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world," these two paragons of the far right - both of whom regularly invoke the teachings ... I expect you thought it would instantly fix the economy or something?

What a hoot you are. FROM YOUR SOURCE.

It's not all Bush's fault. He inherited an inevitable recession in 2001, and even last year's financial collapse was to some extent the result of unsustainable trends in place long before he moved to Washington. Also, we generally give Presidents both more credit and more blame for economic outcomes than they probably deserve. As Bush mock-moaned in his final White House press conference, "Why did the financial collapse have to happen on my watch?"

Who PROPOSED the budget?

Bush, in conjunction with Henry Paulson, to bail out AIG and Wall St. Also the bailout of the Big 3 began under Bush's control.

So, in your mind, democrats were seated under a shitstorm of financial woes bought upon by a republican owned congress for over 10 years, so it's gotta be the democrats fault?

I can't speak for other places but where I am, the housing market is recoving, old business are reopening and new business are coming to town. There is a lot of construction activity in the housing segment, Local developers are having a hard time finding enough construction workers. Affordable housing finance money is starting to flow again.

Again what did you expect? That the stimulus money would instantly restore the economy?

That's not how it works.

NO, nothing was Bush's fault, obviously. That's the kind of dumbass talking-points one would expect from a clueless dope like you.

Candidate Bush talked down the economy in '99-'00 and "inherited" the dot.com recession. Then the payoff from years of reTHUGlican deregulation and Wall St. greed hit late in his second term.

Economically, he was our worst President EVER. He makes Hoover (actually a far smarter man) look brilliant by comparison. And of course Obama's been no FDR, although to be fair FDR-era Republicans were loyal to America, unlike the current crop.

Face it, putz, if a Dem had his 8 years bracketed by recessions, one of them the worst since '29, you'd have assassinated him. But Bush? Oh, dear, how misunderstood he was...:)

Virtually never is a presidents budget proposal approved by congress, it's always changed, exactly what happened in 2006 when the dems briefly controlled both houses.

Then it was payback time for Bush's parsimony, time to put massive increases in spending in and that's exactly what happened.

Our crisis was brought on by mainly the demorat authored morrtgage meltdown.

I've posted truth of this numerous times, every lib on here refuses to see the truth and can't even attempt to refute it.

The truth is BOTH parties have spent and borrowed us into debt, the dems are just so much worse.

The dems and Oblama had 2 full years to right our spending situation, what did they do?

Absolutely nothing, they couldn't find one thin dime to cut, anywhere.

Try again you idiot - and take the f'in blame like a man!
Did 9/11 have any effect on this country's finances? Did Bush have to deal with it?

the Bush Tax cuts resulted in 54 straight months of economic growth. The recession occurred after Democrats gained control of Congress and began wildly borrowing and spending trillions of dollars and implementing their bone-headed and supremely irresponsible fiscal policy.

The economic numbers don't lie. Take a look for yourself:

http://forecast-chart.com/chart-gdp-rate.html

The economy grew every single quarter until Q4 of 2008. That's solid continual economic growth that directly resulted from the Bush Tax Cuts.

The economy didn't take a shit until a year and a half after Democrats took over Congress and their spending policies were in place

Oblama has had 5 full years and the economy is still anemic at best, his policies and record deficits have failed to produce a turn a round. Supposed republican "obstructionism" has nothing to do with it.

However, the $85 billion a month to Wall Street and fatcat bankers has been very good to them, but no jobs.

The one guaranteed sector that will immediately produce jobs is energy, Oblamer has stifled that at every turn.

My friend, the 110th democratic Congress was seated on Jan. 3rd, 2007 - the meltdown happened less than 8 months later.

If we can both find a neutral source, not Heritage, then we can have a truly factual discussion, and I look forward to that.

Bush's massive increases in spending occurred first in 2001, the 2003, with the "Bush Tax Cuts" - two of many unfunded mandates that even a republican Congress could not get passed without utilizing reconciliation - BOTH TIMES - in order to get them through.

You know this, I know this, and anyone with a modicum of intellectual integrity knows this.

I repeat, I do not say republicans are solely to blame - that statement would not even be considered remotely honest. But to try and blame the fiscal meltdown solely at the heels of a democrat Congress that was seated less than 8 months in itself is disingenuous.
