Should cardinal tainted by abuse scandal vote for pope?
VATICAN CITY The controversy over Cardinal Roger Mahony's vote in the conclave that will elect a new pope has now reached the Vatican, with at least one cardinal musing aloud that the former archbishop of Los Angeles should consider staying home.

Interesting. Canon law or conscience? Decisions, decisions. Based upon the article, he should recuse himself.
Perhaps his archbishop in Los Angeles can refuse to pay his way?

If that standard were applied, there would be no cardinals to cast votes.
