...says the guy whose organization puts christmas at the time of year when shepherds wouldn't have their flocks out (and records show there wasn't a census of the 'roman world'), and calculates the date of easter based upon the equinox and the phase of the moon.

Now oral, you know that if the pope says it's true, it HAS to be. Don't doubt the Big Guy. You may not get a chance to kiss his ring.

And what does the pope say about the long on-going history of theft, murder, forced subjugation and child rape by the catholic church?

He probably denies those things ever happened. He stated not too long ago that the church is being persecuted worse than ever.

What about the persecution of innocent children? Why isn't he helping to bring them to justice? The children are far more important than the guilty priests who committed those sexual sins. I've been lucky; I always had good priests and so did my son. However, in our little parish, two priests it was found later were lovers. Also, the priest who stressed the importance and "necessity" of getting my first marriage annulled was having a homosexual affair. But at least it was with an adult male, not a child. I'm not condemning homosexuality; I think a lot is not fully understood yet, but the RC church is horrible to gays. This particular priest, now deceased, rationalized his affair somehow.
