Cuban Santeros wary of Pope visit after JPII snub

Mar 4, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Palm Beach Post

But although their Afro-Cuban Santeria religion owes much to Roman Catholicism, many are decidedly unenthusiastic about Pope Benedict XVI's March 26-28 tour of Cuba, even if it is being hailed as a watershed moment for a church seeking to boost its influence on this Communist-run island.

One can scoff at the cult of Santeros but when you understand that for every 1 Cuban who is Catholic there are 8 Cubans who adhere to this primitive form of worship and belief.
It is a reality of Cuba with which political and organized religions must deal with and seek to understood, not cursed or ignored.
I am assisting a university's Philosophy of Religion's dept. take a group of its students to Cuba to look at the use of magic in religion. The Santaria will be a major focus of their research.

I would suggest to all of you to do some research about the very LEGITIMATE faith that is La Regla De Ocha. There are plenty of highly educated people from all walks of life that adhere to it, myself included.

Not only are tens of thousands of Santeros in the USA, but hundreds of thousands of practitioners of Candomble, an identical religion, in Brazil.

Make no mistake, it largely is the religion of Cuba. If all of you that condemn it as witchcraft and such, you might want to study about the African Diaspora in the USA and see exactly how much certain aspects of African spirituality are ingrained in the culture of the New World. From drum rhythms to gospel music, it's everywhere......all rooted in traditional African practices.

Before you judge, learn.

Is it fair to ask if obama is a socialist?

Not only is
it fair, but if he admits it, his azz should be kicked out fast and furiously!

v Yes, it's fair
As a matter of fact, Obama claimed in his promotional booklet of 1991 when he was the President of the Harvard Law Review that he was born in Kenya to a Mozlem Brother communist who was minister in the Kenyan government and who belonged to the pro-Iranian Mozlem Brother Luo Tribe. Obama wrote a book about the memories of his father who was known to be a communist that nelieved that the rich should pay 100% tax for the good of the poor. Obama is a socialist who supports the Mozlem Brother agenda that he studied in Indonesia Madrassa where he became a Indonesia national thanks to his stepfather. Americans need to beware the Obama anti-American agenda that is based on his father communistic agenda that seek the destruction of America and building new world order on its ruins!
