Good article. Some people argue Islam is gaining adherents, but there are no figures for those leaving Islam...
or for 'Muslims' who don't take Islam too seriously. There are many examples of 'Mslims who drink'.

The 3 Abrahamic sects....
would be funny if they weren't serious.

I think religion in general and represents a sort of backwardness. Islam seems far the worst probably because it is most common in parts of the world that are least democratic and have low literacy rates. A sweeping generalisation, but true enough, I think. Even in Turkey the literacy rate is apparently only about 88%.(One report from Tunisia put the literacy rate at over 98%, but the definition reaad, " Definition: Youth literacy rate is the percentage of people ages 15-24 who can, with understanding, read and write a short, simple statement on their everyday life.")

"The World Bank report on education reform in North Africa and the Middle East concluded that the quality of education in the Arab world is falling behind other regions and needs urgent reform if it is to tackle unemployment." (2008)

[RE: report of an event from early 2010] "The situation in Yemen is bad and Islam is directly standing in the way of progress. The law-makers who oppose minimum age laws for marriage do so on sound Islamic reasoning."

Don't forget-- these guys have billions of dollars in oil money. So even with money, Islam shows itself to be the biggest failure in human development.
