I can understand Heath's comments regarding the BEST ACTOR
award. Although Phillip Seymour Hoffman was brillant in
Capote, I feel that Heath Ledger's performance in Brokeback
Mountain was so intense and unforgettable and made this
movie what it has become. That in itself is a victory for
any actor but just read on line what Ennis del mar's characater has meant to people, the reaction to Annie Proulx who wrote these characters to begin with. I have never seen such a
reaction since maybe James Dean, Marlon Brando to any male actor,
thats allot of years ago and many actors inbetween. I know Hoffman has put out many
memorable performances over the years and is well regarded in the acting community in this country.
What a year for both these talented actors.

I think he is being humble, however, what a compliment to Ang, Heath, Jake, Michelle and Anne and the rest of the crew for being nominated for 8 different catagories... most of all Best Picture!

Once again, an attempt for more press attention for Brokeback and for Heath Ledger. There's been some negative buzz after the SAG awards and his publicist told him to make nice and look humble. Of course he's going to say that the other performers were good.
I tried to like Ledger in this film but just don't get what the excitement is about. I didn't see Terrance Howard, but David Strathairn and Juoquin Phoenix were better performances. And well, Philip Seymour Hoffman IS the best actor.

and how about a Gay Writer t-shirt for oscar night.
In all the fuss about Brokeback Mountain, how come no one mentions the issues and subtext in 'Capote' about being gay? And George Clooney gets attention for putting on weight to play his role in Syriana. How come no one is talking about the weight that Philip Seymour Hoffman had to take off to play Truman Capote?

HELLO, this is a site about Brokeback Mountain and your comments about Brokeback...I'm sure if you look hard enough you'll find a place that you can place your notes for Capote or George Clooney.....

gkwinslc- really? The thread is posted on the Philip Seymour Hoffman page via topix.net . It appears they just link a story to the page of whoever is mentioned in the article. So, from my perspective these are all PSH threads and the Ledger-lovers are invading his page.
To each his own. Interesting how excited folks are getting over their Oscar picks. If it works for the sports world, it's good for entertainment.
