Groovy Valley reunions

There are 7 comments on the The Morning Call story from Aug 2, 2009, titled Groovy Valley reunions. In it, The Morning Call reports that:

Allentown was a pretty groovy place in the mid 1960s and well into the 1980s. In 1967, native sons Jay and the Techniques were on their way to the top of the charts with ''Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie.'' A couple years before, another hometown group, ''The Shillings,'' scored a deal with rock impresario Don Kirschner, and signed with Mercury ...

You don't want to deny anybody their fun or memories, but anybody who's gone to these things can tell you that it often isn't pretty, not for the ears or the eyes. Rock and Roll, performed live, is almost always a young persons' game. You may have acquired the rolls, but the rock part comes harder, and there's lots of exposed skin that wasn't there before. If you had hoped to step back into time you find that time has passed and has been without mercy in the process.

The Rock Palace is where it all happened, but I remember so much more too: The Lighthouse, Castle Gardens, Scarlett O'Hara's, Tuxedo Junction, The Firehouse, the Castle Inne, Saylor's Lake Tavern, many many more. I know that in many ways tonight won't be pretty, but for me it's not about that. It's about nostalgia, and I'm ready for an overdose!

More clubs I remember:
The Mad Hatter, Phase 5, Illicks Mill, The Green Pines, The Purple Owl, The Zoo, The Hub at the YMCA, The Big O (Ormrod Hotel), The Alibi Inn, Saylors Lake tavern-Now there is a place loaded with memories-Super Lou would do a live remote every Sunday evening during the summer on WAEB.

And the memories keep on coming!

False information given to this writer

Just a note to let you know, someone gave false information to the writer of today's article; Groovy Valley Reunions.

It was Uproar, not Big City Music Band who performed, drawing hundreds to Banana Island last year, igniting ideas of those in the audience to organize other anniversary reunion shows at Musikfest which, Dave Sestack had no hand in organizing.

Also, because of a hectic summer shore schedule and contracts booked far in advance, everyone associated with Magnum and/or the planning and promotions of the anniversary show, knew Tommy Zito was unable to attend the Magnum show yet, the person giving the facts for this article stated Tommy Zito would be sitting in for the show.

You know, you really hate to think people would stoop so low as to give false information or purposely confuse facts to avoid giving credit where credit is due but, it sure seems to be what is happening here. It's sad that some people can't do it on their own, gain satisfaction from or make a habit of using others for their own personal gain but, you see it more and more.

Many of us who attended last years Uproar of 68 anniversary show still feel it was very strange that the Morning Call didn't give them some sort of review or even a small mention for being second in draw, to the Boston concert being held the same hours, one site over.

It just makes you wonder.

Here is a video link we found that shows the real truth of the matter.
