Six years of gay marriage and Canada hasn't crumbled

There are 6 comments on the www.leaderpost.com story from Jul 13, 2011, titled Six years of gay marriage and Canada hasn't crumbled. In it, www.leaderpost.com reports that:

In the run-up to Bill C-38 being passed, the naysayers darkly predicted the seismic crumbling of Canadian society as we know it; they said the "gay agenda" would undermine heterosexual marriage and families.

They predicted that in this new anything-goes Canada which would be created if Paul Martin's government sanctioned gay marriage, people would be marrying their cats, pedophiles would be marrying children, priests would be forced against their religious beliefs to officiate at gay marriages, and on and on. Each imagined scenario was more dire and ridiculous than the last.

Any promotion of homosexuality ups the health risk for all of nation, especially through blood transfusions whether through controlled transfer or not and through human contact between those who are infected with those not infected, many of whom don't even know they are infected.
Do you read what you post? If you do, you should go back and sue your schools for your lack of comprehension skills.

According to your source, the rise in HIV cases is attributable to an increase in cases affecting heterosexual men.

"The proportion of HIV cases among [men who have sex with men] has been consistent since 2010 and 2011," Hendriks writes. "We are seeing an increase in HIV cases in young [heterosexual] men, aged 20 to 24."

Even if what you claim is true, what evidence do you have that anything having to do with HIV rates is due to the availability of civil marriage to same-sex couples? Your claim is a classic example of the logical fallacy "post hoc ergo propter hoc," literally "after this, therefore because of this." You claim to present a correlation (one that the evidence does NOT support), but offer no evidence of cause.

Fail.

No it will be the world as a whole this time that crumbles before the wrath of the Living God, For two thousand years He has reached to mankind and still they mock and love their darkness and abominations. All in God's time,so keep mocking you just fulfill His Word and show your total ignorance of the truth.

Thank you. What a loving thought, vicious_tongue.

Wow. You DO live in a world of your own creation, don't you??

Hetero marriage and gay marriage are NOT the same and are NOT equal despite the special interest groups that claim so.
How so? Two loving people committing to love and care for each other as well as any children that may come into the family? Sounds pretty much the same to me.

<quoted text>Most people are hetero and with that comes the very real probability of some day having and raising children.
No it doesn't. Millions of straight couples cannot or choose not to have their own biological children. You have a problem with that?
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>This cements hetero couples together despite any divorce - you can never divorce your own child.
No it doesn't. Hundreds of thousands of children have NO IDEA who or where at least one of their bio parents are. It sucks, but it's true. And it's NOT gay folks that are responsible for that situation, is it??
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>Gays having kids is bizarre - who is the parent?
Both. Same as any other adoptive or blended family. Heterosexuals have created millions of them already.
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>Only 1 can be the biological parent.
Just like millions of blended families created by heterosexual couples. You only have a problem with it when gay couples do the same?

You've never met any children of gay couples, have you?

Trust me, hon. Half of my family are Roman Catholics. I'm WAY more embarrassed for them and their hypocritical religion than anyone could ever be over their parents behaviour.

Statistics?? Sources?? Or are you just projecting your personal fantasy world again?

<quoted text>so they were an economically dependent family.
Again, pure speculation on your part. No reality at all.
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>Gays (and DINKS) can change lovers every week
So can straight people (and many do--way more than gay folks).
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>so there is not the need to provide spousal benefits.
Says you. Perhaps you should ask some straight couples without children if they agree with you on that one.
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>With deficits, governments are going to have to claw back any family benefits for families not raising children.
No, they won't. Again, sources?? Support??
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>Gays are no more families than are 2 adult sisters, 2 adult brothers, 1 brother 1 sister or any combination thereof.
Perhaps you should ask THEM how they feel about you writing them off as irrelevant. I think your stance is unnecessarily (and unbelievably) hostile and angry (and pointless).
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>Gay 'marriage' is just ridiculous.
So it Catholic marriage with it's "keep having babies until you're dead" tenet. THAT is ridiculous.
Catholic wrote:
<quoted text>Many people agree with me.
Way more don't.

I don't believe in gay marriage - it is a joke and I can't believe they are serious. Some children want to marry their dog but they are told it too is ridiculous.
Well, we're even then because I don't believe in Catholicism. I think it's a ridiculous, pointless joke and I can't believe anyone can take it seriously and not see it as the control-freakish, make-the-clergy-rich-and-power ful scam that it is.

But do you see ME trying to pass laws making Catholicism illegal?? No, you do not.

Why not??? Because your religion is none of my business. Just as my marriage and family is none of yours.
