You mean another Clear Channel was hired to Tribune Co? Um, what exactly has been the track record of success of past Clear Channel execs making that move? I don't think a slimming of the paper, a clearing of the Interactive division and conquests of the 20th floor balcony count as meaningful success.

Since when has Howard Stern mattered in Chicago?

That's right: NEVER!

No, Mancow matters in Chicago. The same Mancow who wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for Howard Stern.

Tom Langmyer is the worst judge of talent and character, dating back to his work in St. Louis.

I totally agree with Sez from suburban St. Louis (Ballwin), Langmeyer made the once # 1 listened to station in the country KMOX 1120 AM into an absolute mess. That station actually has the audacity to call itself still "America's Sports Voice", really, not even close !! He actually has copied things over at 780 here in Chicago, making the station seem much less than what it was back a few years ago. At least he did not get the chance to ruin 1010 WINS or WCBS Newsradio 88.

Does anyone care what Stern says anymore?

1. Howard Stern is still on the air? Whoa...

2. I always worry when a newly hired radio exec splurts out a whole bunch of cliches like, "Politics is a contact sport in both of these cities and they're both cities of phenomenal and, in many cases, long-suffering sports fans." Next thing you know, he'll be boasting about "smash-mouth" sports coverage. Let's hope Metheny doesn't try to turn WGN-AM into "...an irreverent, laughing-and-scratching, somewhat sports-centric 'dawg pound' of the air..." If he tries that cookie cutter cr~p in Chicago, he'll be gone a year from now.

This Kevin guy handles his response professionally, Howard is the same old tired old perv from the East Coast. East coast guys love beat off jokes all morning long, that's one weird crowd. In the end, who listens to WGN? The have people as old as Grampa Munster but less interesting. Besides sports, get political or get programmed...or die.
