During spirit week at south glens falls senior high school, one day is set aside each year for the students to dress up as the gender opposite to their own, this is known as Gender Bender day. We feel that this day is immoral and wrong. I find this offensive in that, it degrades the transgender community. If someone were to come to school with their face painted black, they would be punished. However, it is acceptable to come to school dressed as the opposite gender for this day; while the transgender community must suffer the ridicule of others all year round. It is my opinion that this tradition should be abolished, and instead a day of acceptance toward minorities put in its place.
