Good or evil? that's the question in 'Great Snape Debate'

“I read books the way I eat food”

Snape, good? Say it ain't so. How could the man who so vilely murdered the Hogwarts headmaster be anything but the smarmiest snake in the bunch? Some fans of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series detest Severus ... via News & Record Syndication Feed

Snape, is a perfect Slytherin, period.
I am not saying he is good, nor bad, just out for himself.
I guess only time will tell though!

Ummm...I don't think Snape is good or Bad. He is kind of a double-agent. If J.K. leaves him that way she will be taeching the world a lesson. Some people are neither good nor bad. I hope he leaves the series mysteriously. It would be satisfying if all our questions were not answered. He is not balck or white, not good or evil, he is just at the line and not crossing to either side. Everything he does that leads you to believe he is bad has an equal action he does that changes your opinion.

I think that Snape was bound somehow to the good fight, either something Dumbledore held him at, or simply to save his own skin . But his hatred for the good fight is quite apparent & and his early on psychological wounds make him very judgemental and resentful of good people who had greatness thrust upon and decided to do what was right and got more credit for it . But he is clever, because not only did he fool Dumbledore that he would stay faithful even when temptation showed . And he gave seemingly genuine reason to Voldemort of his absence throughout the years . I think he remains absoloutely faithful to only one side : his own side, constantly weaving lies and dispensing his intelligence on saving himself in the midst of chaos . So I think to Harry, he will forever be a foe, but on the grand scale, he will do whatever it takes, regardless of the cost and consequences, to be on the winning team, ultimately serving himself : a gray, instead of a white or black .
