Stumbled on "Universal Indians" today in a small record/cd store and bought it on instinct. Never heard of Dark Meat, just a hunch. Whoa baby, it was a bit like buying the first Velvet Underground album when it came out (I was 15 or 16) and hearing some fucking great rock n' roll chaotic noise/violence/dread/depravity but with an innocence and honesty at its heart that makes you want to shed a tear. Rare in 1967 - 68, virtually non-existent in today's music world. If there's any justice in the world (I'm not sure there is), "Universal Indians" will be on every critic's top 10 list for 2008. "Angel of Meth" is some kind of anthem for our age.
