Maybe they can play another benefit concert there so the theater owners can pay the taxes on the place without looking for an out option by suggesting they could provide educational programming in exchange?

Since the theaters time and programming including the sale of alcohol has become so valuable it's understandable they shouldn't give any of that up without getting something in return. Oh..say...not having to pay property taxes. A better idea is for them to keep selling alcohol and hosting benefits including a few for themselves in my opinion.

Benefit after benefit for private schools. Not even a Helen Keller play public school kids could even attend..... unless of coarse....Is that what the people of Franklin thought the Heritage Foundation would do with the Theater in the beginning when they spoke to FSSD and Williamson County schools? Better hope more mid to low income public school kids get scholarships to the private schools then. I don't believe in the beginning they had a clue how left out they would be if the elected officials don't ante up by foregoing the taxes.

In the beginning everyone was encouraged to donate money for rehabing the old theater. Now if elected officials don't decide to turn around and walk away from the revenue(taxes) they will be perceived as greedy bastards who don't care about public school kids right? The public will expect and want them to allow the theater owners not to pay their taxes. It doesn't get any better than that does it? lol.

We should at the same time not forget the past when certain individuals who were heavily involved with the theater wanted an exception to a protocol regarding sewer service for their new personal business location to be granted by elected officials. It was granted. One of the aldermen said she wasn't voting yes because it was the right thing to do but because her constituents were there. They had come in support of the exception. How many of her constituents were also members of the foundation? The mayor was for the approval and voiced it. Who really is steering the ship in Franklin? How many exceptions for how many things for these special people must there be?
