If Imus did this he would be forced to give up his new job.

"Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it," the Rev. Jesse Jackson said in a news release."

Sounds a little different then the words spoken when Imus "denigrated" certain people.

its different because Imus is white as yes that does matter. i understand what he is trying to do because he is getting the attention of the ignorant part of my culture who find this type of crap enternaining then he is ATTEMTING to educate them with the lyrics on the album. with that said hes a fool for doing it and his last hot album was it was written and that came out a decade ago. Like I said about the DNA scientist, you've had a great career, thanks for your contributions but it is time for them to hang it up.

Your first sentence seems to say it would be okay for me to denigrate a white woman, but not okay for you as a black man to denigrate a white woman?

Would it be acceptable for me to refer to you with the "N" word if my purpose in using it is to bring attention to racism? Or is that not okay because of the color of my skin?

uh huh

This is very unresponsible of Nas. I'm a huge fan but he's going against all the work of the NAACP and black activists.

You can't blame southerners for being the most racist and ignorant people on the planet. It's the product of years of inbreeding.

Never said it was ok for anyone to denigrate anyone. and yes you would be wrong for using the word and yes it has a lot to do with skin color.

This is a classic example as to why black america is in the position it's in now. No one respects us as people for the simple fact that we dont respect ourselves. America is constantly looking for an excuse to degrade us and sytematically 'keep' us inferior in this country. What these STUPID rappers and comedians (Kat Williams, DL Hugely and countless others) fail to realize, is that while they a lining their pockets by saying these hurtful and debasing things, regular black people are paying the price (Jena 6 boys, Megan William is WV and the young man who got killed by 6 white men in FL.) White people wouldnt call Nas or Jay-Z or whomever, n***a even though that's what they call themselves. White people will go buy their CD's and listen to them say the N-word and feel it's okay to say to an average black person on the street.

Typing that last comment made me realize another point. Another part of the problem with race relations in America is that most, (NOT ALL) white people see non-whites as a whole. It appears that some of them lack the ability to see people on an individual basis. When they look at black people, they instantly see all the bad sterotypes from the news, rap songs and wherever else. MESSAGE TO ALL THE NON-WHITES EVEN BLACKS THAT THIS MAY APPLY TO: IF YOU NEVER HEARD A BLACK PERSON REFER TO HIS/HERSELF OR OTHERS AS THE N-WORD, DONT SAY IT TO OR AROUND THEM. IF YOU NEVER SEEM THEM DO OR SELL DRUGS, DONT ASSUME THEY DO. IF YOU NEVER SAW A BLACK PERSON WALKING OUT OF A JAIL, DONT ASSUME THEY'VE BEEN THERE. DONT EVER ASSUME THAT ALL BLACKS ARE POOR, UNEDUCATED, OR LAZY. IF NAS AND OTHER RAPPERS AND COMEDIANS USE THE N-WORD TO REFER TO THEMSELVES OR OTHER PEOPLE, USE IT AROUND THAT PARTICULAR RAPPER OR COMEDIAN THAT SAID IT. DONT MAKE REGUALR BLACK PEOPLE PAY FOR THEIR IGNORANCE. THERE ARE PLENTY OF EDUCATED, SUCCESSFUL BLACKS IN THIS COUNTRY WHO HAVE WORKED HARD FOR ALL THAT THEY HAVE. AND WE DONT DESERVE THE BACKLASH OF IGNORANT FOOLISHNESS FROM THOSE THAT ARE UNEDUCATED FROM EITHER RACE.

What about yourself refering to "whites". I am part native american, swiss, german, scottish, and irish but I am lumped into a group called caucasian because of the color of my skin and for that reason I am constantly walking on nails as to not offend anyone. I'm interested in what Nas has to say, and based on your comments I think you could gain a lot from listening as well.

I also don't appreciate how you refer to yourself as educated and think the "uneducated" should stay out of the conversation. We are talking about a social issue, not a scientific one. It sounds as if you have a superiority complex and maybe that is why you are so hesitant to embrace a "STUPID rapper".
