I was at this concert and I totally disagree with your opinion of Compton Maddux & the Dirt Simple Band. I thought his performance was professional and upbeat and his songs were original and catchy. Not to mention the Hammer Dulcimer - How many times have you seen one of those on stage?

In comparison to Nancy Griffith, he was a breath of fresh air as I found her to be lacking energy and enthusiam & somewhat depressing. I don't know how you can say Maddux's songs paled in comparison to Griffith's when she doesn't even write her own tunes and Maddux does. All I can say is I'm glad Maddux performed that night or the evening would have been a total waste.
