Very encouraging information to know that controlling a disease such as insulin is possible through proper diet.

I'm happy of my habit, enjoying plants and flowers-- admire them, not chew them. The benefit--- at 83 my lifetime 'health' expenses are matched by an annual dollars outlay of every North American. I love and live on processed meats and such. Spiced, smoked, brined--- preserved for hart times.
No placebo effect there-- real food.
I wonder why my name turned into a website. Try it!

Cheers to Cindy, Eric and Joann for going on this raw journey, and to anyone who begins to take their health into their own hands. It's nice to see the consciousness shift a little.
It's no surprise the ADA declined to comment. They have zero interest in encouraging people to eat healthy, as long as they continue to be financed by companies like Pepsi and Cadbury-Schweppes.

Um, yes, but how healthy are you. You certainly can't feel good.

Thanks, Courant, for writing this article. It says it all about how vital diet is in preventing chronic disease, something our country could really use a reminder of.

Michelle correctly points to a general category of "Chronic Disease." We are only beginning to understand connections between the condition (as well as the type) of food we eat, functional cell structures, the body's inflammatory and immune responses, and the resulting onset of general disease processes. I would describe my own diet as dairy-free, low to moderate meat intake, and middle of the road (not radically raw), with a proportionately high percentage of my carbohydrates coming from vegetable sugars (as opposed to fruit, table, or simple carb sugars), relatively high in natural carotenes, and supplemented with calcium and enzyme-linked vitamin C. My experience has been a radical improvement in overall immune system function, as well as a huge reduction in rheumatoid arthritis symptoms, among other improvements. Nothing scientifically proven here, just good old-fashioned results that no one can deny.
