Notice all those sexual assaults occured BEFORE DADT was repealed?
Notice also that most of those sexual assaults were perpetrated by supposed HETEROSEXUALS?
Rape is about POWER, not sex.
Now that DADT has been repealed, the military will actually have to deal with ALL sexual assualts, instead of just sweeping them under the rug.
Denying that sexuality plays NO role in rape is fallacious. If what you said is true, then why are most rapes by men against women? Dismissing rape as having nothing to do with sex is a politically correct excuse.

With gays being allowed to serve openly, that would more likely exacerbate the problem rather than reduce it.

The military should focus first on the MUCH MORE PREVALENT heterosexual rape & sexual assaults which happen every day!
Question? Is asking someone out on a date considered "unwanted solicitations"?
If it persists after being told "NO" one time, it certainly would be. There would be no excuse for asking again, especially if a fellow soldier explained that he was straight. If a superior were gay, there is also the potential for giving better promotion reviews to those who might submit to sexual overtures and discrimination against those who refuse.

Because you are about to engage in your own slick interpolation in total disregard of the facts.
3OHA wrote:
Nonetheless, male on male sex is by definition homosexual.
But not requiring the participation of anyone who is actually homosexual, or even bisexual for that matter. As the article points out, this problem is more about power and control than sex and those who were or perceived as homosexual were more likely to be the victim of it.
3OHA wrote:
What any instance of "domination" sex shows is the nature of homosexuality, not the nature of males, as homosexuals would have us believe.
According to you, but you have completely disregarded the facts to jump to that unfounded conclusion. Sorry, but the facts refute your fantasy.
3OHA wrote:
Sexual deviance is always a breakdown of inhibitions, or moral parameters.
Not necessarily, sometimes "sexual deviance" is caused by mental instability.
3OHA wrote:
This is always the cause of homosexual sexual behavior.
According to you, but most no longer view homosexuality as a "sexual deviance".

Not according to your own article, which was written before the end of the ban, by the way and not according to the military's own report on the first year without it.

Because in general women are easier targets; not as physically strong as the average male.

I didn't say sexuality plays no role, just that it's a crime of violence, not one of passion.

And the same fraternization rules apply to hetero relations as well.

See, that's how equality works.

Yeah, like all 8 years during the Bush Wars when they had to take any druggie & rapists & assorted morons who stumbled near a recruiting station. And they STILL couldn't make their quotas, so they banned anyone from leaving the military even when their enlisments were up or they were eligible for retirement. Grandpa driving a tank across the desert during the Bush Wars.
Aaaah, the good old days!
Btw, we still all march beneath the American flag as well as the rainbow flag.
The military did not allow drug users to enlist. They allowed those who were previously charged with minor drug possession or other non-violent crime to have a second chance in life. And a high school diploma or a GED was and is still required.(Throughout our recent history it was custom for troubled youth to be given a choice between going to prison/jail or enlist in the military where they would learn discipline and a trade. Very effective and beneficial).

A soldier's enlistment is not up when they leave regular service. They enter a reserve status that usually lasts for 4 years in which they can be called back into action for any reason.

No true soldier or patriot will allow any flag to fly above or immediately beside the American flag.

That would mean that he served 19 years on a falsified enlistment application, which will result in dishonorable discharge regardless of when discovered.

There are several reasons why gays should not be permitted to serve. The first being the most obvious, the rise of sexual harassment and privacy concerns.(There is a reason why there are separate barracks/showers for male/female soldiers). It is a distraction to duty. But a more serious reason is that allowing gays in the military, the enemy now has a motivation to continue the fight as they do not see us as liberators, but as a threat to their religious beliefs, which incidentally sees homosexuality as a sin punishable by death. In short, gays in the military poses a greater threat to the safety of all soldiers than if they did not serve at all.(Obama only allows gays in the military because he hopes to gain the "military vote", which has always favored the republican party.)

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Aquarius

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
