Now Akin is approaching a critical week that could determine whether his re-emerging campaign can gain enough momentum to put Missouri back in the battleground column as Republicans attempt to win control of the Senate from Democrats.

The appalling thing about the Akin and the Republican RINO touting his line of thinking as fact is that victims of rape who do end up getting pregnant will think they LET it happen....since, according to his line of thinking, she had the willpower to biologically prevent it during the rape.

Way to take the whole, "you dress skimpy, you're asking for it" thought to a completely whole new level RINOs.

TMZ has learned Mitt Romney's son Tagg -- who had twins this year through a surrogate -- signed an agreement that gave the surrogate, as well as Tagg and his wife, the right to abort the fetuses in non-life threatening situations ... and Mitt Romney covered some of the expenses connected with the arrangement ... and it may boil down to an incredibly stupid mistake.

Translation: Tagg and Jen gave the surrogate the right to abort the fetuses even if her life wasn't in danger. All the surrogate has to show is "potential physical harm," which could be something like preeclampsia -- a type of high blood pressure that could damage the mother's liver, kidney or brain, but is not necessarily life-threatening.

Meanwhile, Tagg and his wife, Jen, had the right to abort the fetuses if they felt they would not be healthy.

Sources connected with Mitt Romney tell TMZ, Mitt was involved in the surrogate arrangement because he paid some of the expenses connected with the agreement. We do not know if Mitt Romney read the contract or knew the terms.

Mitt has said, "I'm in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest and the health and life of the mother." Otherwise, Romney is against abortion.

Thus far, Senator McCaskall has graciously refrained from airing commercials attacking Akin for his comment that he believes women who are "legitimately raped" can shut down their pregnancy without abortion, so women shouldn't have the option of abortion if the conception occurred due to a rape.

'Ol PooPoo admires Senator McCaskall's restraint, & hopes it will continue all the way to election day. But more cynical types suspect Senator McCaskall Will carpet bomb the airwaves with negative, anti Akin ads after Tuesday's deadline for Akin to quit.

If that happens, Akin's numbers will melt away, & Senator McCaskall will snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Had she run the ads after Akin spoke, they would have carries Akin's charred carcass off the battlefield weeks ago.

Let's hope Senator McCaskall takes the high road. If she doesn't, the Akin carnage could be ugly...
