And what money do you use? What do you write as a date on your checks?
US currency, and the Gregorian calendar, which has more to do with a social agreement than it being a christian calender. If you think that it is because of the faith of God that the US currency is capable of purchasing goods and services, I suggest you take a high school economics class and research a FIAT money. If you do believe it's because of the faith of God, go to a store and try telling them how much you believe value God puts on something and that they have to believe that you will compensate them with Goods.

I think the owner of the restaurant should be able to express his opinion without fear of retaliation, but i also think gays should be able to marry each other. so, both sides have a point. i am in favor of accuracy in reporting. the rally in support of gay marriage consisted of 4 or 5 people- NBC should have mentioned this--i think NBC has a duty to point out that hundreds supported the restaurant while only a handful opposed it. the public distrusts the media more than congress and this kind of reporting is one reason why.
fox and cnn don't help either. Let's face it, every sensational topic has become a lightening rod, and the cable news shows spin the truth.
.
When you're in the public eye, you should be conscious of what you say. I personally believe that the Chick-fil-a CEO knew exactly what he was doing, and it's paying off.

By law the stores may not discriminate, and also by law nobody can close one down or prevent one from opening because of the owner's stated views.
The hubbub is because he donates fast food proceeds (your money, if you eat there) to organizations which fight to deny rights that marriage would afford same-sex couples.
So someone tell me how they discriminate? Are they refusing to serve anyone? Refuse to hire anyone because of the their sexual preference? Give me a break, just a bunch of whinners. Anything for attention. This is a private business and a private citizen. I'm begining to think the gay community is a bunch of mindless robots that can't see beyond their gay agenda.

Just for clarification on this point, it is NOT U.S. law nor Virginia state law to include sexual orientation in non-discrimination policies. Chick-Fil-A also does not include sexual orientation in their policy. So it IS in fact legal to fire or turn away someone based on their sexual orientation.

Line up for intolerance.
Mr. Cathy is intolerant because he believes marriage is between a man and a woman? Why isn't it equally intolerant to deny him the right to his belief? Do we now live in a country where our thoughts and beliefs are to be controlled by what someoneelse comsiders to be the appropriate thought or belief?

He didn't COME OUT with statements against gay marriage, A REPORTER ASKED HIM WHAT HIS VIEW ON THIS ISSUE WAS!!! get your facts straight! REPORTER!!! really, what do you think the answer is going to be when you ask a CHRISTian their views on what the WORD OF GOD tells them is immoral(1 Corinthians 6:9)? and WHY does it always have to be viewed as HATE? GOD is LOVE, just because we CHRISTians don't agree with something you do doesn't mean we HATE YOU, that is just another way to JUSTIFY YOUR HATE for CHRISTIANS... hate the sin not the sinner... I hate drugs, not drug addicts. I hate infidelity, not cheaters. I hate alcohol, not alcoholics. I hate jealousy, not jealous people. etc... I am not perfect, we all fall short of the glory(Romans 3:23). again, God is LOVE(eph3:17-18)... John 3:16

Just as this 'controversy' sells. I'd like to see it backfire, but I doubt it will. Too many strident conservatives.

The individual store in Charlottesville might not be turning away applicants for this reason, but is IS in fact legal for them to do so, which is a BIG problem. If you look at a Chick-Fil-A application, sexual orientation is not listed in their non-discrimination policy.

nobody is denying him the right to his beliefs. Just like nobody is denying a Klansman their beliefs. 60 years ago, segregation was a popular belief. Just because you have the right to believe something, and just because it's popular, doesn't necessarily mean that it's not discriminatory.

This, actually, isn't about Christians or Christianity; it's about discrimination. I'm sure that homosexuals are less thrilled about Iran's policy on homosexuality than the US's.
.
Clearly if this is a religious issue, than it's a violation of the 1st Amendment. It doesn't pass the lemon test. Get the government out of the marriage business, and call it civil unions for men and women when pertaining to children and personal property rights. Let churches and religions call it marriage. With a close to 50% divorce rate (and an even higher infidelity rate), it's not like marriage is really all that sacred. Heck, one could make the religious argument that once you lie with a woman, you are married to that woman.

where does the nbc29 article state "come out"?

Here's what was in the news item:
"Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press last month that the Atlanta-based company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." That sparked debate across the country with people on both sides of the issue."

Sounds to me like me made a 'statement'. Whether a reporter asked him or not, he didn't have to state his views. He could have kept them private.
