Dear Mr. Rourke,
I'm a 17-year-old teenage guy from Bainbridge, Georgia so I'm not sure if I was the intended target audience for "The Wrestler" however as a lifelong film fanatic I knew I had to see it and I was completely mesmerized by it. I guess you could say that I kinda relate you to my dad in a weird way. My dad has always loved your work, he's obsessed with Body Heat, Johnny Handsome, and especially Angel Heart. One of my fondest memories from my childhood was when my dad bought Diner on DVD and I remember when he was paying for it, the casheir noticed Kevin Bacon on the cover and I remember my dad then pointed at your image on the cover and he said you know who that is right? the casheir was a college guy and he was like no I can't say I know who that is. and my dad's jaw dropped and he was like oh my god thats mickey rourke! youve never seen angel heart!? I also remember when my dad showed me angel heart and how blown away I was by it,and how I was furious when I found out you didnt win and werent even nominated for best actor for it. I'll also never forget when my dad took me to sin city and i dont think ive ever seen him so enamored by anyones performances but yours. i remember he came out of sin city and he told me he gave it four stars just for your performance. cant blame him though, the movie rocked and you rocked it. as you can probably tell when my dad first read about the wrestler coming out of nowhere and winning these festivals and talk of a mickey rourke comeback was stirring up he was absolutely ecstatic! he was actually counting down the weeks till the movie came out, I had never seen my dad this excited to see a movie before. and sure enough when the movie finally came out i can honestly say my dad and i were not disappointed. it was actually the first time i can remember both of us crying at a movie screening. even though this is gonna sound cliched i honestly feel like ive grown up with you and your movies, its almost like my dad supported you even when ur star wasnt rising, and its my dads rousing passion for your work that has made me a huge fan of yours as well. i swear if u dont get that oscar, then the academy and their idiotic decisions should be ignored by film fans everywhere. I hope you do read this Mr. Rourke, and I hope that you continue to deliver more terrific and heartfelt performances that my dad and I can continue to enjoy for many more years to come.

I have no idea if Mickey Rourke will ever read this. I'm not a movie buff, not even interested in Hollywood stars but I was absolutely captivated by his straightforward, down-to-earth persona on the interviews I caught on TV. My daughter, who is a stunning redhead, Scottish and lives in NYC...was also watching and said..'Why on earth can't I meet a man like that'. SO if you happen to read this Mr Rourke, I'm not saying she would be the next love of your life, but then again.....you just never know....(she would be appalled if she knew I was doing this).

Just watched Harley and the Marlboro Man again on TMCW cable. I know Mr. Rourke thought this was his sell-out movie but I have always enjoyed watching it. It may be short on plot but it makes up for it in action. Love the aircraft junkyard sequence. I Think the Harley that Rourke rides is also super cool.

Those of us with Irish backgrounds may have all sorts of problems, but language is not one of them.
