Diana skipped memorial to avoid MJ's mom

There are 10 comments on the www.nydailynews.com story from Jul 19, 2009, titled Diana skipped memorial to avoid MJ's mom. In it, www.nydailynews.com reports that:

Diana Ross said she stayed away from Michael Jackson's memorial service because she was "trying to find closure." But one insider claims it was also because she and Michael's mother, Katherine, don't get along. "Katherine resents that Diana became a kind of surrogate mother to Michael," claims a source. "And she's not thrilled that Michael named Diana as the backup guardian of his children." A Jackson rep declined to comment, but Ross' spokesman called the theory "ridiculous. Ms. Ross has deep love for the Jackson family.".

Katherine Jackson is 79 years old and she is married to that idiot,Joe Jackson!! Diana Ross is 65. Both women are getting a bit long in the tooth. Maybe Janet Jackson should take the kids.

I couldn't agree more! Janet would do a fine job, while still allowing grandma to be exactly what she is - grandma. Diana's far too old too; she could also act as a sort of interested aunt.

How do we know if that's true or not? Well, maybe it is, and just maybe Michael Jackson didn't know a fake friend from a true friend. Diana Ross would have gained nothing and lost a lot if she hadn't been MJ's friend. Was MJ's mother upset when she saw how Diana Ross slung MJ out of her way on the stage when he was a little boy, as if he was hogging all the spotlight? That's what it looks like to me.

Interesting. That is not the only time she did that to him.

Maybe she was concerned about him being too old for his age. All I know is that something was odd with that pair.....Dirty Diana was not a random name.

I've always thought that too. No singer would sing a song named Dirty Diana if he had a good friend by that name, no matter what.

Maybe Joe Jackson had a thing with Diana Ross! That would be reason enough to stay away from Katherine Jackson!!

MJ and Diana Ross were way too close.

Ross and Jackson talking about how the other is sexy --

Ross sits on MJs lap and he blushes...yeah he's a grown adult still with a crush and she was comfortable enough to sit on his lap (hmmm)-- http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Looks like Diana Ross is the instigator both times: the first video, did you notice MJ's body language? As soon as Ross tells MJ he's sexy, he immediately starts with the arms, covering himself and seeming not to know what to do with his legs, he keeps lifting them up and down. The second video, he looks surprised that she plopped herself onto his lap, and his reaction of covering his face with his hand is not the reaction of a grown man. Now I like Diana Ross' music and have since forever, so I'm not trying to say anything bad, but dare I say it?.... ewwww

It's a personal decision not to attend a memorial service. Diana may have been too hurt by the lost of Michael and was not able to attend. I have felt the same when I experienced a death in my life. It doesn't mean you don't love the
person or that your being disrespectful. Clearly she loved Michael Jackson and he loved her. We should not read into this as a insult or something negative. Diana if I remember correctly, did not attend her brother's memorial when he died in 1995. Her daughter read a note from Diana. Everybody deals with death differently. But then again, she attended Richard Pryor's funeral. It maybe how she feels at the time of the death and how she is able to handle it.

It is a personal choic not to attend a funeral. I never attended one untl the lost of my mother in 08. That was the first and only funeral ever attended. I will not attend anymore.
