I fail to see why some people would think Michael Jackson was really that talented, really. Maybe back when he was young, he could dance but in later years, his dancing wasn't all that impressive. He seemed to lose a lot of what he had as time went by. His music suffered as a result of his enormous ego complex. The clown ruined his looks with too much plastic surgery and he failed to work to update his pop music to include anything other than poor copies of what he has done before. He never progressed into making truly adult music that a man in his forties would make. His songs lacked any feeling or emotion that a great artist would need to be taken seriously. In the end, he was fifty years old and he still had to dance. The child molestation thing was his personal life gone haywire and perhaps, had he focused on creating music and entertaining, he wouldn't have spent so much time chasing boys. He ruined his career and destroyed whatever legacy he had in 1993 when he paid the twenty million dollar settlement to Jordan Chandler. It was straight downhill from there.<quoted text>
It sounds like his child molesting took away any talents he had for you. Even if they're the best dancer in the world, sometimes you just don't see people the same way again after knowing what what horrific things they committed. I understand that, too.

The clown did mostly dance pop or pop ballads. He did only fourteen tours in his entire career and lip synced. He had Quincy Jones produce with hired musicians, never could play one instrument in his whole life, was never an actor, never could compose a song by himself and still took credit for everything. Of course, he'll never be the number one selling artist. The clown lied because of "Thriller" and it went to his head.

I think it was because Michael didn't grow up in the Baptist or Pentecostal churches. His father was a non-practicing Lutheran and his mother's family had been in both Lutheran and Baptist churches but Katherine switched to the Jehovah's Witnesses in 1964 allegedly because pastors in both her Lutheran and Baptist churches had cheated on their wives. Ironically, Katherine's own husband was cheating on her even during the early days in Gary despite the fact they had all those kids.
Over the years, it's been rumored that all nine Jackson children were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses but Jermaine Jackson put that rumor to rest in his book on his brother (which itself was heavily edited according to Stacy Brown) saying that of all the siblings, only Rebbie, La Toya and Michael were baptized as JW's while the others were Lutherans like their father. I don't think Randy and Janet were ever baptized in either church so they were pretty non denominational.
On the Clark Sisters' Unsung documentary on TV One when they mentioned the pop artists they influenced to include gospel in their music, they added MJ's picture from the Thriller days. Man in the Mirror is usually seen as a pop-gospel song. It was written by Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett because Quincy felt the album "needed an anthem". "Will You Be There", his song from 1993, is said to include gospel elements (mainly the gospel choir), though it can be argued that it was a retread of Man in the Mirror, as was another Siedah Garrett composition, "Keep the Faith", which technically had more gospel influence.
MJ claimed he wrote "Will You Be There" on his so-called "Giving Tree" lol he sampled children's choirs in it too if I recall as well as Beethoven. The singers MJ used for his gospel-imitated songs were the Andrea Crouch Singers. "Earth Song" and "Cry" also had gospel choirs in it (I think the same choir singers). Ironically enough the Andrea Crouch Singers also sang on a very non-religious MJ song, "Morphine", which was really weird for them to do.
Many of the "gospel" material was really MJ's humanitarian songs. Technically they weren't "gospel" in the traditional sense. Just pop songs with gospel influences.
