"End of Open Space ... Please respect the rights of others." What ever happened to "POSTED NO TRESSPASSING! Violators will be shot!" Now that was a sign that had some impact. A few of those nailed to a few trees woulda been a lot cheaper than a eight foot wall and a hell of a lot more effective.

Hetfield is being held captive by the Eco-commie bunch, Sierra Club, Greenpeace. the tree huggers, Von Jones, etc. If you own land, the liberals will try to take it away from you. History is repeating itself. Just like in 1776 when are forefathers revolted against the British for Taxation without Representation! This is happening now. Hetfield has the finances to fight this, but what about the family that has owned their ranch for over 150 years, and the county commies want to run some bike path, or easement through their property!

God BLess the Pacific Legal Foundation, they stand up to Johnson and his Coastal Commission Commies, and let private property owners live in their homes withous harassment from these liberals!

Oh yeah lets build a new trail with county money to bypass an illegal closure of a fire road. Better yet lets only let rich equestrians use a trail that will cost all of the taxpayers. LOL I love Moron county good job. How about just making him take the fence down?

Couldn't find a worse picture to castigate Hetfield with? Let's make him look like a demon... If you actually sat down and talked to him, you'd find an amazingly emotionally advanced human being who is not at all the "heavy metal" public appearance everyone assumes to be the true person. Give it a shot...ask him for a 1 on 1....learn about the real James Hetfield.

This guy got tired of his propery being vandalized, so he put up a fence. Big deal. Blame the dumb asses for vandalizing his property in the first place. Who cares who owns it. Stop acting like a bunch of entitled, whiny-assed sissies.

I've mtn biked on the trail before, when it had the swinging gate, many times. It would be nice if the fire road stayed open (or rather, re-opened), but I respect Hetfield's private ppty rights. Sounds like a solution, even though it will be $$$, is coming soon.

And yes, Metallica was one of my top bands on my stereo in the '80s.

I don't feel so bad about foreclosing my house and not paying property taxes this year. Thanks for making my county job obsolete supervisors - I am glad I won't have an income to redistribute and can't afford my taxes now, because they go to pay for crap like this.

It's funny how you dismiss the concept of private property. I'm betting you don't allow the public access to your house/apartment.

He used his financial wherewithal to threaten the county with a prolonged fight regarding what may have been rights to access due to past public practice over decades. I am for private property rights, but not through these means. Past articles have pointed out he KNEW of this access when he bought.

I have some serious doubts about the claims of vandalism. They type of people who vandalize don't typically hike several miles up a steep hill to do those things. It is much more likely that it was his own workers who did whatever he claimed was done.

Actually, I have seen vandalism on trails in Indian Valley - not on the fire road, but at the top of trails. It really fries me that people are rude, inconsiderate, and have zero respect for property - no matter whom it belongs to. Soooo, it really could've happened - and if that was the case I don't blame him for getting tired of it.

As I recall he complained that someone had taken a dump and I think there were some empty beer bottles. Both are things that could just as easily have been done by his own workers. Has anyone even checked to see if all of his workers are in the country legally?

I've seen people pooping, beer bottles, ciggy butts, toilet paper, graffiti on the trail. We caught one lady who had just pooped on the trail - we didn't know about it until she told on herself - TMI. You're right, anyone could've done those things - just saying ANYONE - doesn't automatically mean that he had someone do them. Guess it was the final straw - too bad that some a-holes had to wreck it for everyone.

I did not mean to imply the he had them do that just that there is a real possibility that his own people could be responsible. It was a relatively low traveled area when it was open, if you can call it that. There was already a No Trespassing sign before he built "The Wall".

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Aquarius

Yesterday you had a good control over the workings of your mind, but sadly that isn't the case today. Instead, your thoughts are wandering in every direction except the one you need to concentrate on. The result will be a sense of being disconnected from what's going on around you and possibly even a dreamlike quality to the day. Don't make any decisions while you're like this.
