Kathy of SF California found in IMDF Pro that Matthew has a US agent:

Creative Artists Agency
Hylda Queally, Talent Agent
9830 Wilshire Blvd.
Beverly Hills, CA 90212
USA

For additional details about this major US talent agency and his powerful agent, Hylda Queally, check the MM Has Left Evans & Reiss thread. Looks like he does want to work in the US after all.

A little extra exposure wouldn't hurt either. Alot woud even be better.

Michelle,

He now has two agents: one in the UK and one in the US. Hamilton Hodell is his agent in the UK and Creative Artists Agency is his US agent. You can only find out about the US Agent by joining IMDB Pro and clicking on "Contact". It is also interesting to look at IMDB Pro's starmeter. MM's current rank is 706 after rising to 42 with the U.S. release of Pride and Prejudice. Richard Armitage ranks at 3546 which if I am reading the table properly is the highest he has ever been. I am somewhat surprised at this. Also, may I say sorry Ellie for passing on this information if you are lurking.

It's so exciting that MM has a US agent. That must mean that he plans to have more to do with US productions. He needs to attain a certain level of fame so that he can get a higher salary for a film. The higher his fee, the more picky he can be about what role he takes. He has a larger family to think about now, and although it's nice to do those independent films and roles on the stage, they don't pay as well.

Daniel Day Lewis (another fave of mine) really does not take on many roles. He drops out of acting altogether for long periods of time, does other things, and makes a movie when he wants to (like Gangs of NY and the one his wife Rebecca Miller --daughter of Arthur Miller-- directed him in ?Ballad of Jack and Rose?) He can pick and choose, but makes enough money when he takes on a role so he can do that.
That's what I'd like to see for our MM....
A few great roles that are well received and get him more noticed...an Oscar which would bring him so much more recognition which would then enable him to command the salary that would allow him to do what he wants without having to be concerned about money.

No official news yet, Judy...

Although most likely he has a new baby boy or girl by now. We'll just have to wait for their announcement, wheneever that may be.

I agree Kathy. MM needs more exposure & that definitive roll that will put him over the top. Added US exposure is needed to help him achieve that goal. Then he can pick & choose when & where he wants to work. I don't want him to work in any picture just for the sake of working. I still want him to be selective, but I want him to be considered for more rolls by casting directors when they're making they're selections. While Darcy was a wonderful roll it didn't show his capabilities to play a vast array of characters. Most Hollywood types only know him for Darcy & have never seen his other films. This is where the US agent can be of particular importance to him. It's only fitting that his agent should be a woman. Since currently women make up the majority of his fan base. The guys need to discover how good MM is too.

Once the big Hollywood shots will take notice, they'll give him anything he wants,'cause it'd be madness on their part to let someone like MM slip away. His talent is huge and he certainly deserves an Oscar for most of the roles he's played. Especially for P&P and IMFD. He was just perfect in them!

Yes, Jen, as I so wanted but was "not to be bourne" IMFD could have easily been a nomination for HIM! But soon, he will get his day!

Hi Kathy,it is great that MM has a US agent! I have a question: do you know if this is a new relationship, or an old one that took a long time to find?
I read elsewhere that his relationship with the US agent was forged in 2002/2003 when he came to LA for the spooks publicity thing, and that it was standard operating procedure for this US agency to sign up new UK talent, nothing particular for MM's being with them or for the hope that he might dom more US films. This information was not confirmed by these other sites, just discussed and decided that it was not a new thing. What do you think? New or old? Either way, it was a great find!

Hi anna,

Thanks for that, and I think it's new for topix.net , and many US/worldwide fans! Probably since it was found by me it's not to be acknowledged anyhow! I don't care anyway.

It still says a lot about his tie to the US and the fact that it hasn't been talked about at the "other sites" is revealing. From what I can gather, Hylda Queally has been in the states since 1989. She is Irish, worked for William Morris up until 2004 when she left to work at CAA. She is an A list agent in Hollywood for sure.

I have checked the IMDb pro site before and it was not listed there, not even Evans & Reiss was listed, and that was back in June.(know that IMDb is often mistaken too). Is this a coincidence that it's now listed alongside the UK agent Hamilton? You decide.

yes, I see what you are saying. Also, if Queally did not join them until 2004, then it makes sense that it is new, and not from 2002/3...oh yipee!!! Thanks for clarifying kathy, as always!
