I do agree that there is something between them, there is alot of touching going on. You can see them almost try to hold back a bit on not letting thier emotions be known and they often have a natural reaction to each other and quickly try to tone down thier response, as if thier hoping that no one saw it. I agree with one of the other bloggers life is short if their unhappy then go for it. As far as people saying that only liberal men cheat, that right there is the biggest joke. Conservatives are usually the freaks but they mask it w/ their religious rhetoric, always using religon as a way to save face.

OMG...Matt and Meredith?? Are you kidding me. Both have zero sex appeal. I think that their TV relationship has grown to mutual respect, and yes they LIKE each other. Meredith was the wrong choice for the Today show, and Natalie would have been worse. The only person I like on the show is Al. Ann make me want to puke!!

Meredith always has the look of a bad case of gas! If I"m not mistaken, she did cut one while on live tv. My wife said "Did you hear that"?

I'm so glad to know there are other people out there who can't stand Meredith. I have all but stopped watching the Today show because of her...and I have watched that show every morning for YEARS! She HAS to be the center of attention and if she's not, she will carry on like a child until she becomes the center of attention. I used to think this program had real class...but not now. Not only is she obnoxious, she is a terrible interviewer! NBC needs to go back to the drawing board on that one.

You people have ZERO clue. Matt and Meredith? Give me an effing break. Natalie, Jenna Wolfe, none of this is true. Totally unfounded rumors made up by people who know that drama sells papers and have nothing else to talk about since the Tiger Woods, John Edwards, and David Letterman scandals died down. The National Enquirer should look into which oil company executive's are getting favors from Congress, sexual or otherwise. Oil spill anyone? Hello?

OH PLEASE!!! if meridith & Matt we having an affair believe me it would be very private, not on the air where it would be too obvious & they know the media would have a field day.. The bantering that goes on, is what keeps the ratings up.
Gives the show a fun environment so people will keep tuning in.
Trouble with our society we're always reading things into situations..just because a man & woman are friendly and fool around by joking, doesn't mean an affair.

An Australian's perspective.
Matt Lauer hates Meredith Viera. From the day Meredith arrived in his hen house (the Today show set) Rooster Lauer displayed a thinly veiled contempt for her - and massive insecurity. He wanted to make it clear that he rules the roost. I frequently saw awkward, uncomfortable, tense situations on the set when he belittled Meredith in front of the other members of the team and a national viewing audience. Ann Curry, as always, was the self effacing glad pie seeking to avoid confrontation.
One one occasion, when he was doing a stage of his "Where in the World" stint in the Maldives, Matt commented to Meredith that she would remember the arrival of the European settlers there, centuries ago. This is not the sort of comment a woman in her fifties would accept as wit or humour. There were numerous other comments which were downright offensive. I saw Meredith trying to appease Matt by being diplomatic, even submissive - always under the overwhelming spectre of tension.
I found Matt's behaviour so offensive, and the interaction with Meredith so painful to watch, that it caused me to start watching Good Morning America. Although I find Robin Roberts' endless proselytizing of the African-American cause so transparently tedious, and the way that her co-workers kiss up to her quite puke-worthy (apparently Americans have painted themselves into a corner, terrified of appearing racist to some committee, commission or court) the informational content and political analysis seems superior to that of the Today show.
I still look in on the Today show, and I note that Matt seems circumspect in his comments; he shows more self control and even caution where Meredith is concerned. It seems to me that Meredith must have made some heavy duty complaints to management and/or had a face to face with Matt to get him to back off. I think that there would have been a "dispute resolution" meeting after which the "humourous pseudo-love shenanigans" approach was adopted to difffuse the tension and probably considerable criticism from the viewing public (and management).

It seems that NBC are keeping Meredith and Matt apart with a roster of days off that minimizes their strained interaction.... what a relief.

This "reverse spin", i.e. this so called "topix"
(toxic) forum has to be an NBC-initiated strategy, devised to diffuse the obviously high number of complaints received about Matt Lauer's offensive communication directed at Meredith Vieira, and the resultant tension on the Today Show set.

After a severe dressing-down - the closest thing to an affair on the show - Matt may have toned down his rhetoric but the overly sweet "Thankyou very much Meredith..." and similarly exaggerated "handing-over" style amongst the "team" can't hide the simmering, palpable tension.

Where's an emoticon of a pointing tongue, or better still a puking face when you really need it?

Katie Couric no...Meredith Viera.....definite possibility. Meredith's husband has been ill for some years now and it has to be starting to weigh her down.

They're soooooooooo doing it.

But on a more serious note, they don't hate each other. There are articles that both have negotiated a 4-day work week. The Today Show is a very time-consuming show to work on so it's understandable that they want time off. Matt and Meredith definitely do not hate each other. I agree with Locust15 that they sometimes catch themselves when responding to each other because it can turn sort of...romantic?

Remember during Beijing Matt took Meredith's hand when they walked over to the fountains in the ground that randomly shoot out water? They held hands the whole way there and for a little while after they were standing there. Also, remember when Meredith went on that Autumn Adventure and Matt jumped out disguised as a scarecrow? The way they hugged each other was very intimate. Meredith genuinely had no idea Matt was there, and that was evident in her response.

Dear SCM. Suggest you google oxytocin. This may enlighten you on your "adolescent-like female hormonal/neurotransmitteresque prismatically skewed dreamworld perspective" on work environment power plays and "marketing spin" injected to relieve the tension.... BTW I love you.

There is and has been something there..Matt still gives her loving eyes...and Meredith has said her husbands illness leaves her..horny. Retiring makes F-buddies meeting even easier. Nothing between Matt and Meredith some of you say? Sure, and Arny the rightious upstanding republican would have a love baby with his Hispanic maid?!-impossible!
