Why all in one special? They could easily make this a 10 part special over 10 hours and it would give each genre Top 10 the appropriate amount of time. Plus summer programming is hard to come by anyways, even more so with the WGA strike.

"Rocky" better than "Cinderella Man"? "Vertigo" better than "Chinatown"? "Titanic" ['97] an "epic"? NO.
And where is "Network"??

Not to quibble, but "Rocky" is a far better movie than "Cinderella Man." Not the sequels. But the original, which gets unfairly lumped in. And "Titanic" is absolutely an epic (far moreso than "Saving Private Ryan," to be sure). Being an "epic," there doesn't mean it's actually any good, mind you. But it's epic.

"Vertigo" versus "Chinatown"? Eh. It's fair to have a preference either way. They're both masterpieces. I also prefer "Chinatown," but I wouldn't judge anybody for preferring "Vertigo."

And "Network" doesn't come close to fitting into a single one of the Top 10 genres, so it didn't make any of the lists. If there had been a "Media" or "Satire" or even "Dark Comedy" genre Top 10, maybe it would have been there.

I am an American and I care enough to watch. I don't have to agree with their selections. In fact it is fun to disagree, it makes for good conversation. Even if America voted there would be disagreements.

"HOMBRE" should have been on the western list.
It's a classic...Newman at his best!

Why no Top 10 Musicals -- or Top 10 comedies? Is there no place for Astaire, Kelly, or the Marx Brothers?

Larry -- The AFI already did a list of the Top 100 comedies. It had plenty of Marx Brothers.
