If your at an auction, bidding on something you cannot live without, and the seller has a confederate, bidding against you... guess what's going to happen.

Check out youtube.com ... do a search for Lindsey Williams. Watch all eight segments (about 90 minutes total). He talks about price fixing and who is actually benefiting. I think you'll be amazed.

The ONLY way to fix this is to nationalize the oil industry.
It is too vital to leave it to the private sector.
They have lost the public trust.
So, socialism is the answer? What a nutjob.

The answer is REALLY easy:

1. Drill for more oil - ANWR, off coast, etc. to supply the US.

2. Stop shipping oil out of the US for the near future.

3. Build nuclear power plants to produce cheap electricity for gas or diesel electric vehicles.

4. Implement coal to liquid fuel technology (it IS clean - very clean) The military is already doing this on a large scale - and reaping the benefits.

5. Research better battery technology - electric and electric hybrids can absolutely replace our primary commuting vehicles - with more power (torque) and less "pollution".

Not rocket science - just need leaders with a clue and a spine.

Not that it helps with proces, but go the following link from the Calif. Energy Commission, which shows the approximate breakdown of how the cost of gasoline is established.

One of the big drivers of the price increases in recent years, is the dramatic increase in demand.

The demand from China and India (1/3 world population) has increased a great deal in the past few years, with little or no production increases from refineries.

Also there is a lot of demand for oil for the military in Iraq. If we weren't in Bush's personal war, there would be way more supply.

The mlitary supplies much of their fuel needs from Coal gasification - which the environmental nutjobs have railed against for the rest of the US - and which would supply our oil needs - with no importation - for over 200 years. Yep, we are the Saudi Arabia of coal and yet, deny access to our citizenry because "greenies" shout (falsely) that coal to gas is dirty.

In truth it releases vastly less CO2 or any other pollution that the ethanol travesty.

While that sounds logical (and is constantly reported on mainstream liberal media) it is untrue.

China only imports >3% of their oil needs - and this has not increased in recent years - they manufacture and refine 97% of their own oil.

This is the kool-aid that media and others offer to the US to gain our acceptance of falsely inflated prices.

Do some research and see the lies for yourself. www.insideautomotive.com
