I really wish he would reconsider this decision. I just can't imagine the show without him. I probably won't watch the show anymore. My family looks forward to Wednesday nights so we can watch the show. Everyone on the show just fits so well together. What a shame.

I can't believe he's gone! He makes the show. I will miss him. I really hope the show can continue strong without the great Jason Gideon.

Without Mandy this show has no depth. Too bad when corporate controls what we pay them to watch. I may not be more than one person, but consider me to be one less viewer. Good luck to everyone else left in the show, and you can kick your bosses in the nuts for saving a penny, and maybe kick Mandy in the nuts if he was asking for more than he has proven he earned. Do you think any CSI would have survived if a Leading role was 'replaced'? What makes a sequel successful? Same actors? Same Director? The same reason it worked in the first place, just repeat. Not rocket science….or maybe greed is just to powerful?

i will not watch the show if mandy is not going to on there. he is the best actor on the show, and without him it is worthless

I am deeply saddened by the early exit of Mandy Patinkin from Criminal Minds. It's one of my favorite shows and he is a cornerstone. I adore the other characters and will continue to watch, but without his character's "wisdom" I'm sure there will be less of a reason to watch. Someone needs to convince him he is essential to this show.

This is twice he's done this to CBS. Maybe now they'll learn not to air a show with him in it. He's good and I liked both shows with him in them but I've learned my lesson too. Never again Mandy.

I have to agree with you! I really liked Mandy and think he's an integral part of the show, but this "Prima Donna" syndrome of his is getting ridiculous! When will actors begin to realize how fortunate they are to have "made it" in this industry in the first place (because there are LOTS of others out there who would love to be in their shoes) and stop having little tizzy fits, stamping their feet, taking their toys, and going home??? As much as I enjoyed Mandy in his role in this program, and love the program itself, it would serve him right to all of a sudden have trouble finding work because he can't be depended on -- and I really hope the show continues to thrive anyhow, regardless of if he's on it or not!

This blows!!!!!
I love the show and all the cast.
It wont be the same, and if I think that cbs CM producers are going to have Agent Jason Gideon, killing himself, because of the promo I just watched for next episode. I wont be watching, the show any more. Thats a real cheap shot. This is not the first time cbs has screwed over their viewers. Thank God for tivo and dvrs. We the viewers, can choose what we want to see when we want to see it. Now I will have a spot for another show, lots of them coming up. Lets just say it wont be anything coming from cbs fall line up.

Well I can't see Criminal Minds lasting without Jason Gideon. And I can't see CBS or the writers taking a great mind like Gideon's, turning it to suicide. That just doesn't make a who lot of sense to me. Better that he be killed in the line of duty because Gideon is not a weak man and the writers are placing him in that category. Shame on CBS. Normally, I don't watch CBS. Their lineup stinks and Criminal Minds is the only show I watched. If survival of a station actually depended upon the viewers, CBS would have been gone a long time ago. Or, with any luck, that could still happen. I wish they would turn it around. I won't be watching anymore. It just won't be the same.

I agree with those who are a little put out by Mandy doing this again. I enjoyed Chicago Hope and honestly watched it at first because of him. He left his cast mates in the dust on that one too!!! I love all of the actors on Criminal Minds. I am sometimes a little disturbed by the content of the show, and chose not to watch certain episodes because of that. BUT I hope that CBS gives these other talented actors a chance to build an audience, and I hope that there will be those who watch in order to show Mandy that he is not the only tempramental actor in the sea. Our lives will go on without you!!!

Come on, folks. You're sounding like you think CBS and Mandy Patinkin owe you something. The studio is in the business of making money. Patinkin, as a free man, can do what he pleases in his career. I've seem him act, I've heard him sing. He's good a both. And just like you'd like to have a career that satisfies and fulfills you, I'm sure he does too. He's just as entitled that as all of us. Give the man a break and move on.

I'm glad they ended it with him driving off into the sunset...just in case he would come back, which I hope he does. I love this show.
