Right on the money about this ludicrous movie. But you might also have mentioned how shamelessly derivative of other flicks it is; the tedious, impossible to follow car chases (in identical vehicles, no less) are a good time to muse on Frantic, the Limey, Man on Fire, the Bodyguard, 24 and the Bourne movies. Taken is to action films what Family Guy is to animated comedy: plagiarism with a quasi-alibi provided by deliberate dumbing-down.

I suppose you like the moronic "reality" shows on tv much better? This is what we watch to get away from real life. Most of us live life and we don't go to movies to get "realism" out of it. We go to get away from it. You want real? Get out of the theater and volunteer at a soup kitchen or hospital. Keep your reality out of my fantasy, thank you.

I thought it was a great action/thriller. Please don't make it sound like Collateral Damage (firefighter vs terrorists), at least Taken is more believable. I recommend to anyone to watch this movie. It'll give you what you paid for and nothing more. Just enjoy.

The reviewer is wrong, thereby more unrealistic than the so-called cartoonish violence. Moral outrage more than justifies any abandonment of psychological reasoning--and especially whatever she thinks "physical" reason may contain then yield if she means it separate from violence and force--with individuals uncivlized and without regard for human life, and up against the clock.

What is with critics obsession with "True to life" movies? If I want to watch an accurate form of entertainment I'll stay home and turn on the Discovery Channel. This movie was spectacular because it did'nt try to be "True to Life".
