Mariah Carey is the best selling female artist of all time. Madonna is number 2. In America Madonna has not been relevant since 1999. Her last successful CD was Ray Of Light released in 1998. Music was not as successful and every album since then has hardly sol. Mariah had a bomb with Glitter in 2001 but came back strong. She poseeses actual talnet in singing and songwriting. Madonna needs to get her sales records up if she wants to compete with Mariah. Mariah is also 12 years younger than Madonna. Madonna should retire. She is like an old worn out prostitute trying to do new tricks.

Who is Mariah? Where is she now? Is Mariah planning her next US concert cancelations or airplay manipulation? Mariah is just not an emancipating artist. She is stuck to her poor old me songs.

Madonna’s US shows were all sold out. Her last two albums were certified few weeks after their release dates in the US and have since not been certified but sold millions. Worldwide, Madonna’s last two albums have sold far more than Mariah’s bestselling albums which were in the early nineties. And I am not even talking about Madonna’s magnificent and diverse back catalogue.

I can’t stop listening to the celebration sample. This song is heading for number one in all the places that can count. With this song Madonna takes her dance roots and fabulous voice to ClUB IBIZA and turns up the energy to a higher level.

Let Mariah do the crying, because Madonna and we are going to celebrate.

I think you'll find that Madonna is "the queen of pop" as she sells concerts all over the world, not just have best-selling albums in the USofA. Whether you think Mariah is better than Madonna is of course your opinion but watching the young female pop stars, I think you could easily say they are more influenced by Madonna than Mariah Carey.

Mammaries Corny is too old to be the queen of pop, but she is close to it. She's been dethroned by the likes of Beyonce, Rhianna, and other good singers. She had her time, and yes, she probably has one or two more big hits in her, IF she sticks with ballads.

Celebration is doing very poorly on itunes in America. This is shocking - maybe with a little more time it'll make its way up higher. Americans just aren't big on over-processed dance songs, but I do like the part where she says something like, "Haven't I seen you some place before?" I have only heard the 30 second version, so the jury is still out on whether I like it or not.

Generally speaking, my definition of success doesn’t depend on airplays. Certainly not on the airplays that is based on paid interventions, connections and favoritism politics.
The true Madonna sound always finds its way to the ears of its reception. Her first single didn’t even have a video, nor did it depend on airplay. The same can be said for Holliday. In those days they got played out at the clubs and at the parties. Yet everybody knows that those songs are among Madonna’s biggest hits.
Nowadays, even Billboard has split her airplay chart from its sales charts. When Madonna first came out, radio used to play cindy luper and pat benetar. Yet Madonna’s albums and singles ended up selling more and made more lasting impression on ears and minds.

Celebration is Classic Madonna(unapologetically fun, campy, sexy, ambiguous and philosophical)

By the way, although I love America I disagree with what you said about dance music. from what I saw when I lived there, America is the land of over processing (mass industrial productions, mass (copy and paste/ Photoshoped)media, rap and hip-hop oversaturation, soap operas, red carpet show and tell,,,,

But on the positive side, the clubs in America are among the best. Every time I went to one, they had a nice mix. Dance Music is not over processed. It is technologically and mentally advanced. All Madonna’s records have done well to great everywhere including in America. Her shows(concerts are where the money is at today) have broken attendance and sales records everywhere including in America.
What a great way to turn 50: having a rock butt, the world’s third biggest selling album of 2008, one quarter of it sold in USA, the biggest selling tour everywhere including USA.

Here are some logical questions for all Mariah fans.

How the hell is Mariah the best selling female artist of all time when she isn't even #1 in her biggest market...the U.S. where she is currently ranked #3.

If she were the biggest female selling artist why isn't she the richest ???

How is Mariah the Queen of Pop if she doesn't have any pop appeal around the globe. Just look at her worldwide concert gross and record sales. Not even close to artist like Britney Spears, Beyonce, Shakira, Celine Dion, and of course Madonna.

Globally more people recognize Madonna. Like they did Michael Jackson. In fact, they come from the same era. They were each other's counterparts back then. The media dubbed them King & Queen of Pop. Can Mariah Sellout a international Stadium concert tour with 50K plus attendance day in and day out ??? Don't think so.

How about Mariah's impact on our culture??? It doesn't exist....she's never been a fashion icon, an activist, a trend setter, she didn't change music like Madonna did. You can still see her impact today in artist like Britney, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, etc...Mariah is a talented R&B Artist with a phenomenal voice, but she's not the queen of pop. She's never done any other type of music. Look at MJ he did pop, r&b, rock, he took chances and mixed things up. He danced and put on a show too. So did Madonna, doing r&b as a white girl in the early 80s, with synth pop and dance, ballards to rock and latin sounds. Breaking barriers for all women. Using music as dialog to trancend messages to our society. She helped define a generation. Mariah hasn't done that.

All Mariah fans ask yourself these logical questions to put some perspective in your ridiculous assertions of her being Queen of Pop.

Hope this helps.

Mariah has 18 number billboard hot 100 number 1 singles. She has achieved more billboard awards than any other female artist and on top of that beat out madonna in artist of the decade. Mariah has been formally claimed on several media eventsas the biggest selling female artist of all time. It's hard to call someone like madonna talent when all she does is recieve a song, record her version with absolutely no vocal talent and perform it while making out with young pop princesses. Like seriousl madonna, your over a half decade old, give it up!!! Mariah writes, produces and performs all of her songs. That's true talent. Mariah has spent more weeks at number one than any other solo artist in history beating out Elvis. Mariah being more successful than Madonna is remarkable noted that madonna has been out a whole decade before Mariah and mariah didn't start touring until her third year as a singer. Mariah has more influence on singers worldwide than any other artist. She first inspired some of the biggest artists of this generation to sing such as Beyonce and Christina Aguilera. Saying Mariah can't sing anymore is the most hypocritical statement ever knowing that Madonna could never sing ever. Mariah is the queen. She was voted MTV's greatest voice and in mariah's words "I really haven't payed any attention to her since the 7th or 8th grade (1983) when she USE to be popular so-- hahahaha." Mariah is still goin strong! All Hail the Queen, Ms. Mariah Carey.

Queen of airplay maybe. But not queen of pop nor Queen of universe. Mariah has had no cultural or social impact whatsoever. In the recent years Madonna’s chart successes have solely depended on hard sales (fans going to buy her records). By historical analysis, three quarter of Madonna’s record sales, has been generated in the wider world outside the USA. A quarter of all her record sales have always come from the USA. This is still a good chunk of her record sales.
Historically in the USA, besides Elvis Presley, Beatles and Barbara no other artist has shown the kind of longevity that Madonna has shown.

Mariah will never be the queen. She is not even a princess yet. There are a few artist who can claim the princess title: Qua voice, Celine Dion is a pop princess, qua style Kylie is a pop princess.

Mariah may be the queen of backroom promotional dealings qua airplay. Mariah’s voice has shown its true weakness in the past few years. Her voice was never what it was made to sound like on her first album. Since then she has had some pretty songs which date back to 1995. Her so called emancipation album was everything but emancipation. Worldwide, USA included, Madonna’s confession album sold twice as much as Mariah’s mimi album.
Confession has surpassed 12 million mark, while MIMI is still hovering around 5 million. Madonna’s Hard Candy, with its in your face album cover which many in conservative circles find offensive and dominant, and which was banned by the US radios, has already sold more than 4 million copies worldwide and is likely to pass the 5 million mark not too long from now.

If Mariah has such a great following and such a great voice as some claim, why are her concerts canceled? Why did she find it difficult to sing live at Jackson memorial concert? Mariah doesn’t really have a big voice. Her thighs are far bigger. Madonna is an all around entertainer. Mariah could never sing papa do not preach or frozen. Christina can sing Mariah’s song far better than Mariah can. I think Mariah’s 18 airplay and duet number ones have gone to her head.

As far as the single sales are concerned, Madonna’s song ‘Hung Up’ has sold far more copies than all Mariah’s songs since 1996.
