Whitney Houston- Good, but not great range..Probably the best tone and very powerful in pop music.

Madonna- Average singer, extremely talented and marketing genius.

Mariah Carey- Ruined/overused her perfect voice in 90s, great falsetto but boring. 8iggest fan-bases ever in the US.

Celine Dion- She has range, great control, and tone. The most powerful Diva in pop music after the downfall of Mariah in 2003.

I'm sorry but Whitney really wouldn't be anything without the Bodyguard soundtrack. Madonna has alot more to her than a movie soundtrack. There's really no comparison.

Queen: Your reference for these stats are??
Awards ha so what? Awards are an acheivement purely from personal opinion of those who vote. Successes within the work the output is where the real comparisons. Take out the bodyguard from Whitney's and where does that leave you? Everyone is a sucker for a love story and a good power ballad. Madonna on the other hand is still top of the game, where is Whitney now? Rehab? or getting her next fix?

Where is Madonna, oh yes, creating her next studio album following the success of her top selling album confessions and the 50+ date sell out tour. Shall i go on?

Has Whitney ever had a world tour? Can anyone name them? I can't. In fact when was Whitney's last success?

"In 1991, Houston embarked I’m Your Baby Tonight Tour, which Rolling Stone poll voters voted “Worst Tour of the Year."

Shove that in your Whitney pipe and smoke it!

Let's face it Whitney's a has been. Good at some stuff she has done but a failure in longevity. Mainly because she couldn't keep grounded. She lost control. She struggled and caved in. Never to surface again.

Whitney’s best work was a cover (I’ll always love you), the rest of her work I don’t even remember or don’t want to remember. Many of her materials didn’t justify her claims. She let her success go to her head and lost touch with the reality. She thought that she was god’s gift to mankind. The funny thing was that some people bought it too.

madonna has waaaaay more albums than whitney so her success will be more of course. but she doesnt has the best selling female album or single which whitney has. she is also the most awared female ever. madonna has more concert tour sales but tina tuner has grossed more with tours. madonna has the highest grossing female tour but tina has is the most tour grosing female artist ever. if you take the bodygaurd away she would still have 10 number one singles in usa and she would still have the first diamond album by a female which sold 13x-platinum which also sold more than any madonna album and was the best selling female album of the 80's. If i wasnt for whitney the bodyguard wouldnt even be popular so your just making up exscuses as to why she is successful. whitney was a female that everone feared including madonna herself said on youtube , the title is called madonna fears the legendary whitney houston. she also has successful dance hits including usa and uk number1 ''I wanna dance''. sales madonna is the best seller, awards whitney is the most awarded. she is also in the guinness book of world records for being the most popular read the book. awards come from success and mainly are given to the hardest working artist of that year, and thats how whitney has more billboard awards, they are tied with grammy's, has more american music awards and world music awards. those awards are given to the mvp recording artist of the year not because they like the artist. facts not opinion. she also has 3 emmys as well. no lets say if any madonna album had the success of the bodyguard, yall know yall would have nothing to say but positive. non of madonna albums or singles will come close to the bodyguard. i wil always love you is the most successful female song ever. its the best selling non charity single as well. shove that in between madonna legs then eat it.

Again i reiterate i can't be arsed with backward and forward bitching. At the end of they day where are they now? That's all I ask.Who has made the most waves in human culture? Who has given out stong messages in view to change things? Who will be most talked about in 300 years time? Madonna or Whitney?

I know where my money will be.

Madonna is a genius, seen for her outrageous image etc. and for being completely cool, while being uncool. The only person on earth who can do that. However, Whitney, is just another screaming crack-head (Mariah, etc)

Madonna can also scream is she wants to (Evita) but just because she doesn't want to, and wants to do something more sensual, people say she's talentless? Shame, what has the world come to?

Besides, Madge has lasted longer, and will be talked about in 300 years times.

And Madonna just has unlimited sexual energy. She might not be THE sexiest, THE richest, THE most powerful, THE most talented, but she is the most creative, and has the highest amounts of genius and her overall package is a heluva lot better than the rest of the Madonna-wannabe's.

I also don't like shouty. If I wanted to hear shouty, I'd piss my mom off.

Where on earth are some of you getting your information from?
Whitney is in a different league to Madonna. Madonna is a great performer, artist and will appeal broadly to those appreciate bubblegum pop.
Whitney on the other hand was a very successful artist and performer in her own right. We'll just have to wait and see if the drugs haven't affected her voice too much for her to return fully. The bodyguard did not make Whitney (it did confirm it though). Whitney was a vocal powerhouse in her own right and nobody could touch her (individual) sales or otherwise (at that time) her live performances were second to none. The success of Whitney Houston was an overnight phenomenon and in musical circles was often described as 'if her voice was an instrumewnt it would be a Stradivarius'. Today is a completely different matter and Whitney is an otherwise completely different person. One can only wait to see if time, perseverance and a complete change of direction will have gotten Whitney back on the right track.
Madonna will always be appreciated by those who love shock tactics and expressions which can challenge the rights of others (and also for others!). Madonna is a genius when it comes to marketing her own image and music and without this strategy would have faded into the background years ago. Lets face it any one that can hum or sing at least an octave can reproduce a Madonna song. Her fame comes from her personality and the ability to be a great live performer. There couldn't be more of a difference than there is between these two artists. One is and always will be a pure thoroughbred songbird no matter what the outcome is of her voice whilst the other will always be known more for her ability to dance and produce a good show than to sing. Most of Madonnas work are considered 'nice little pop records' whether she sells 1,000 to multi millions. The vocal talent is simply not there. Vocally, Whitney on her worst day is far superior than Madonna on her best. There is no question of that! When people talk about Madonna they talk about her ability to stay up with the youth cultures of todays society despite being 50 and of being able to reinvent herself using current fashionable trends and even making underground fashion trends come to the surface. Her music is nice to dance to and her performances live are electric. Still she is no songbird.

Now I wouldn't say that. "Whitney on her worst day is better vocally than Madonna on her best."

Madonna can scream out a number if she wants, but she doesn't write her music like that. She doesn't enjoy performing or listening to music that sounds like a cat being skinned. And Whitney has had countless lessons, and choirs etc. Madonna just got up and sang. Madonna can really really sing, and if she is trained, she can REALLY REALLY sing, just watch Evita, you'll see what I mean.

Besides, if Whitney has a supposedly 'better' voice than Madonna, then she really has no excuse.

Your argument is flawed in oh so many ways.

'So Madonna just got up and sang'- your words not mine!
It shows!
You yourself have also stated 'if she is trained' again your words not mine.
So you admit to her needing training.
If you cannot present an argument spontaneously may I suggest thinking before typing.

It always suprises me how many people actually claim to know their Idol (whomever it may be) personally.(their feelings).
I am an admirer of quite a few talenteds artists but wouldn't claim to know what they are thinking or feeling no matter what the media would have us believe.

You know what I mean. You're just being a smartarse. If you didn't get what I meant, then you need mental training. I think I stated myself very spontaneously and very clearly, thank you.

Enjoy the rest of your day,12ufromMe.:-)

I hope you haven't taken this as an insult upon your opinions. The world would be a very boring place if we all the same tastes.
I respect you for your opinion as I'd hoped you would mine.
I also wish you a nice day.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't think of it like that. But, yes the world would be a boring place if we had the same opinions. You're a cool person for acknowledging that. Thank you. And again, I'm sorry for not acknowledging that earlier. Thanks.

Being an talented musician takes far more than a voice...Yes its clear as day that Whitney can outsing Madonna...but Whitney cant dance, produce, write a song...she has awful stage presence, she has made woeful personal decisions which have scarred her career, her videos and stage shows lack 'art'...its just her voice, no meaning. Madonna will never be considered the better singer...but she's clearly the better all-round package
