SciFi channel would be better off picking up (extending) series like Journeyman and My Own Worst Enemy than keep milking the stargate cow. These two series were good scifi stuff (with some good acting), both victims of poor scheduling (Mondays 10pm!!!).

Not to mention Firefly/Serenity, which had great potential as scifi.

Atlantis was bad enough with its over-the-top bad guys (the wraith), which looked more like stuff you would see on a Halloween Haunted House ride at the local fair. They were not credible enough, nor was their defeat.

Scifi Channel needs to rethink its strategy and become a "leader" in scifi, not just another old series reruns.

Phillips was good in "Wolf Lake", another series I would add to the list of shows that Sci-Fi should think about make new episodes of. Have to agree so far it sounds like "Voyager" but the Stargate series aren't as complex as most "Star Trek" shows were so I'm guess there will be more shootout.

SciFi is not a "leader" in anything, except perhaps empty hype.

Stargate has long ago ceased to be a ratings draw, but then again the same can be said of every show on SciFi.

SciFi fails again and again to attract audiences because their shows are terrible (and most of them are only loosely related to Science Fiction anyway).

The Caprica press announcement where SciFi proudly said that it had erased most of the Science-Fiction out of the show was an amazing acknowledgment that Bonnie Hammer and her SciFi colleagues not only know nothing about science-fiction but actually think have science-fiction on the SciFi Channel is bad for ratings (all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding)

What is bad for SciFi's ratings is endless monster movies and shows shot on shaky camcorders.

I hope this show is like the early episodes of SG-1. More serious, less comedy. I liked the episodes that were on Showtime. But when Sci-Fi got them they kind of changed it a bit. Not noticeable at first. But latter, yea. I was a fan though. So I stuck through to the end. Not all of them were lame. They had a lot of good ones too.

The Stargate series has been remarkable in presenting exciting character-based drama in a well thought out and consistent science fiction universe. It has consistently had some of the best ensemble acting. This is in contrast to most of other so-called science fiction shows on the science fiction channel which typically are more in the fantasy or horror realm. I'm looking forward the the Universe show, but I'll be missing the old cast, who were magnificent.

I did see the promo for the show & the production values look a lot better than the first two.
