SciFi channel would be better off picking up (extending) series like Journeyman and My Own Worst Enemy than keep milking the stargate cow. These two series were good scifi stuff (with some good acting), both victims of poor scheduling (Mondays 10pm!!!).
Not to mention Firefly/Serenity, which had great potential as scifi.
Atlantis was bad enough with its over-the-top bad guys (the wraith), which looked more like stuff you would see on a Halloween Haunted House ride at the local fair. They were not credible enough, nor was their defeat.
Scifi Channel needs to rethink its strategy and become a "leader" in scifi, not just another old series reruns.
SciFi is not a "leader" in anything, except perhaps empty hype.
Stargate has long ago ceased to be a ratings draw, but then again the same can be said of every show on SciFi.
SciFi fails again and again to attract audiences because their shows are terrible (and most of them are only loosely related to Science Fiction anyway).
The Caprica press announcement where SciFi proudly said that it had erased most of the Science-Fiction out of the show was an amazing acknowledgment that Bonnie Hammer and her SciFi colleagues not only know nothing about science-fiction but actually think have science-fiction on the SciFi Channel is bad for ratings (all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding)
What is bad for SciFi's ratings is endless monster movies and shows shot on shaky camcorders.
