Now, I am sure there would be major issues with this, but if my history is correct, Texas is the only state that was previously it's own country when it joined thee Union. Also, it can divide itself into 5 states, thus by itself could get another 8 US Senators, and also swing some additional electoral college votes, if the citizens of Texas decide to. They would also add an additional 4 Governors to the National Governor's Association.
That would really change the landscape and outlook of Washington DC, and just by one state following their rights.
Won't ever happen, but it would get some in DC up in arms if a grassroots effort grew.

Okay, I can sort of agree with that thought. Let me rephase. The only country to become a state, in the United States, was Texas. When Hawaii bacame a state it was already a US Territory.

Right about now I'd love that idea. Red State/Blue state experiments.
Send only the money needed for military and Social security, and after 10 years, see who is better off, the red states or the blue states. And see who needs help.
Succession wouldn't happen. The banks are too closely tied. The federal reserve would make sure the banking system failed.
Although, it IS a mental excercise, but it's nothing more than that.
And besides, we don't even need to have a red state/blue state experiment. Just look at California, and you KNOW how the experiment would end.
the blue states, bankrupt, broke, always demanding more from the people to fund the ever growing stupidity of the liberals.
The red states, everyone would flock to just for a CHANCE to be successful, a chance to control your own money, invest, give your kids a chance....
The blue states would be stuck with the ultra rich and the large growing groups of people demanding more and more hand outs.
The charities would be much more successful in the red states, because americans are the most CHARITABLE people on the planet, when they feel safe and secure in their futures, then they give freely to help others. Not when it's taken away by the brute force of the government.
It would be nice to know ALL your taxes were spend locally, and you could RECALL those politicians at any moment if they got off on the wrong track.(You can't recall your federal politicians - a pity, huh?)
There are arguments for and against, however, it is strictly a mental excercise, nothing more.
the states would be better off amending their constitutions, and then challenging these idiot "mandates" in court based on states rights and the rights of the citizens to self determination, secede is not the answer, nor would it happen.
Although, I'm all for letting Mexico have California. One one condition, Mexico HAS to accept every one of those idiot liberals that live there.
And then HAS TO BUILD A WALL along the length of it to keep the idiot liberals THERE, in the state they ruined.
And THEN we'll cut a deal with the mexican government for the OIL off the coast of california.
Mexico becomes wealthy, we have access to the oil, and no one has to listen to the idiot liberals any more. They can live in their "paradise" under the MEXICAN government.
Now THAT sounds like a plan.
someone from romeoville talking about mexicans
thats a hoot
romeoville and all of chicagoland is a sanctuary area

oh incidentally the legislation in springfrield ahs already been introduced to secede in springfield

The recient passage of the NDAA legislation makes secession more attractive. I once stated I wouldnt want to live without the protections of the US Counstition and Bill Of rights. The Bill of rights is gone and the counstition only gets lip service. I will move to the first state to leave the union. Who will be first Montana or Texas? The Nntied States are done for. Its a sad ending for a once great nation. Both partys are to blame. Their isnt a political or ballott box solution.
