I used to like the fair so much. But in the last couple of years it has gone down hill. They charge everyone too much to get into the fair. I wonder if Coke is gone as a sponser. At the fireworks not everyone was selling Coke. I seen some RC Cola normally that is not allowed.

Hold on to your wallets folks its York Fair time again parking and admittance tickets for a family with 4 adults is a pricey one . But wait theres more how about the expensive food prices that go up every year and the signs that say sorry had to pass the cost onto you because of their set-up fees being increased by the greedy fair committee . Ever check out the junk prizes at I Got It you can get better quality at a yard sale .Why cant they stamp your hand when you go to one of the concerts so you can get back in to the concert area if you want to go out and find something to eat at the fair . Why cant they extend the free admittance times to accomodate those of us who have to work after 12 pm on weekdays or weekends .Free admittance from 10am -12 noon is not long enough . Also can the fair pass a ordinance requiring the carnees to bathe once in awhile some of them smell worse then the cattle at the toyota arena. I will say this though atleast viewing all the exhibits is enjoyable .

Too bad there are less submissions every year now too. This will be the first fair I've missed since maybe forever. Last year one of the 100 year old parking attendants yelled at my wife and I to hurry up exiting our vehicle (it takes time to put my son in his wheelchair). He even cursed when I told him to back off. I complained immediately to the fair office and subsequent e-mails, and was issued ZERO apology. Point is - unless its green paper, they don't care anymore.

GET A GRIP....Do you not think the Fair's
cost of operations increase? Insurance
goes up, Cost of attractions go up,
It costs money to maintain buildings and
grounds...so they're not supposed to pass
the costs along...they are just supposed
to absorb it? Don't hear anyone complaining
about the $5.00 hot dogs at Hersheypark or
At the Major League ball parks.
Well Gov.Rendell is cutting funding to community
events like this so enjoy it...because in years
to come you'll be complaining because there are
less and less events like this.

I posted this info on another fair related thread. Per YDR article 7/12/09, "Expo Center reaches tax compromise", the York Expo Center - owned by the York County Agricultural Society, will be saving $585,000 in taxes over three years. Those taxes would have been paid to: West York Area School District, York County and West Manchester Township. The taxes are for: 2007,2008 and 2009 and since expenditures for all three years for all three tax juristictions are budgeted based on the forcast of RECEIVING those tax revenues; in the end, who do you think is going to be on the hook to make up that difference? If you are Gene Schenck of the York County Ag Society, you're smiling all the way to the bank. If you live in: West York SD, York County, or West Manchester Township, hold onto your wallets. BOHICA

OK, so it's expensive--not anything new, so, if you're going to attend, you should have tried to make allowances for it!! There ARE WAYS TO MAKE IT LESS EXPENSIVE--as far as admittance, well, ENTER something in one of the many contests-ie. a pie, a flower, a pet, WHATEVER---you get to enter free to check on,maintain you entry, etc.---many people do this strictly to get passes for entry & maybe you'll EVEN WIN something! AND, since you're so DAMN HUNGRY--SEE IF THEY HAVE A SAUSAGE EATING CONTEST "FATSO", you'll get in free and be able to eat all day ya fat PIG!!!!!!USE YOUR BRAIN---SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE AN EXHIBIT! As for the smell of the employees of the rides, well, damn it---at least they are WORKING!!! On that note, maybe you could work or volunteer a little of your time to get entrance passes....hmmmm now there's a thought!! Regarding the concerts, which ones are you attending that are so long that you need a food break, what are you-800 pounds?? If so, you probably smell worse than the "carnees" you're bitching about---here's a thought chubby & family-maybe you can join the side show just for a day-you can get in free, make some $$$ and than you and your fat family can ride the one ride that you'll qualify for...THE CHOW WAGON!!!! Have a nice day SLIM!!

I have always enjoyed the fair. It is an extremely large task to gather people to work for just 10 days out of the year. The fair does a fine job. I hope they get good weather.
