DJ's early love of radio led to successful career TRIBUTE
Full story: Kansas City Star
I knew Dan only breifly, in 1967, when we worked together at KEWI in Topeka. He was the morning man and I was the all night guy.
I remember how nuts he was about record collecting he was. I think he drove a 57 T bird and once, we went to Kansas City. We went to his mother's house and, while I don't remember any specifics, I remember his mom being very nice and him showing me his record collection.
I left to go into the army and to Vietnam. I remember sending him a letter and him writing me back. He was in Denver. Did I write him back? God, I hope I did.
Dan was a very nice guy, good on the air, a real pro. I wished I'd known him longer.
