this is a does ayone know? question.first the fsacts:the rikenbacker instrumrnt co. once made the wierdest guitar amp in history.together with it's power head the speaker cabinet was shaped like the heinz ketchup label.called the transonic amp.rumor was that onsome early u.s, tour jimmy page had several of these with every other cabinet upside down because, shaped as they were this would make an interlockingjigsaw puzzle-like space free wall of amplification. so i'm wondering if any zep fan can attest to the voracity of this rumor it's been a mystery for most of my 37 years as a guitarist.i do know i once saw and heard a guy play a les paul through one of these amps and never heard anything sound closer to "whole lotta love"!

Yes, it is not rumor, but fact. Jimmy used the Rickenbacker Transonic amps at the Fillmore West with his psychedelic Telecaster in early 1969, and then used them in June, 1969 during the recordng of Led Zep II with his sunburst Les Paul. I have photos showing him using them in both situations.
