Kool & The Gang has had a longtime local connection.....all the way back to the 80's when Curtis Williams from Buffalo (City Honors alumni) was with the band.

Honestly WHO CARES!?
So this guy from the garbage dump named lackawanna has been the lead singer for a garbage dump of a group for over a decade. Why is this news. No wonder people think this town sucks, this is considered NEWS!?
Didn't a fruit cart roll over or something today? Something that is new and might interest viewer!?

"Dictionary Please", you are so correct. You personify what some people perceive the WNY resident to be, unfortunately.
Find some intimacy, move your bowels, do whatever you need to cheer yourself up.
I defy you to listen to ANY Kool & the Gang song without gettin' down! It can't be done. They're classic and fabulous. We're proud of you, Shawn. Dictionary Please, PLEASE- get a life. Funny how you have time to read & respond to items like this as you mock those of us who call it news......

Again, nothing positive. Show this group some respect. They are legends in thier own right. They performed in the 70's, 80's and 90's you idiot!

Shawn makes a living going around the world and entertaining people. People obviously still like Kool & the Gang's music. What's wrong with that? Where do you live that's so wonderful that you can be so critical of Lackawanna (and no, I don't live there), and what do you do for a living that's so wonderful that you can be so critical of Shawn and Kool & the Gang?
You sat and watched the interview, so you weren't too busy doing anything to make the world better. Shawn makes people smile when he sings, so he towers over you. Give people some credit, or take some singing lessons and try to do what Shawn does -- then maybe you can criticize.

I don't like modern rap music, but the good old days were where it's at... Kool and the Gang were classics...don't knick it if you haven't heard it...

I love Kool and the Gang - always have. Classic dance music! Glad to see there is a local connection.

They may not be chart toppers like they used to be, but there'e still making music.
Steppin' Into Love spent 24 weeks on the Billboard R&B chart and peaked at # 7 in 2006. They had another single called "Dave" 6 weeks on the Billboard R&B chart in the fall of 2007, peaking at # 13. Not bad for a group that gets almost no marketing budget from their label.

Not only has Shawn made millions of people all over the world smile, but to know that someone like him chooses to live modestly. He is also an inspiration to kids who think there that there is now way out of a small town! Another reason why music should be kept in the schools! Kool and The Gang is one of the hardest working bands I know. Some people think because you have a hit you have it made. Well some of these Chart toppers can't sell one ticket! While Kool and the Gang has been touring non stop selling out shows all over the world!!!!

K&TG sucks now. I just watched em on HD net and the new lead singer is horrible. He cant sing so he ooos and aahhs alot but its just pathetic. He kills the classic songs. Lead singer man who made that dumb decision. He is just horrible. He takes the magic out of the songs. The music is still great but the lead vocals suck. It kinda sad to see em try to bring younger audiences in with gimmics too.

I don't know the guy from Cain. However, my best friend Kathy to this day will tell you how she worked @ Sun TV (McKinley Mall) and he worked there. Early 90's, she says he was the nicest guy. The way everyone there found out about who he was?? Was because, Sun TV was selling 80's tapes and a coworker saw Shawn on the cover. I guess when he was confronted about it, he was very humble and his wife and kids ment more to him. True story! So maybe who ever the "Hater of success" here on the boards, Could justify his name calling and nonsense? I'm sure some sense would be made and people would see how envy really make you looks like a loser.
