Here's an idea: What if Kiss do a concert where half the profits go to charity and they divide it into three parts: 1. The Hits 2. Acoustic 3. Songs they've rarely played live such as 'Strange Ways','Keep Me Comin'','Take Me','I' or 'Almost Human'? That would be cool!

I'm actually (kinda) looking forward to this cd.
If I understand correctly it is re-recorded versions of the classics, rerecorded by whoever happens to be in the band this week (Singer, Thayer, Simmons, Stanley, plus, no doubt, an unnamed session bass player). On one hand, it's a little sad, the classics are classics because of the original chemistry between the original members and the producer. So the new versions won't be quite the same, in the same way tht the re-recorded versions of the Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madmen don't quite have the same magic. On the other hand, Thayer and Singer are excellent musicians and, if allowed, could really add some kick to the old tunes. They sure sound great in concert. And from a business POV it makes sense. If $immons and Stanley want to lisence out their music to tv/movies or video games, it is better financially for them to own the recordings that are being licenced, rather than a huge share of the cash going to the record company that bought out the old record company. So overall, I think it's good. It may well be the closest thing we'll ever get to new music from KISS. |

The cd sounds great. 10 thumbs up.
But it raises some questions... If KISS can find the time to go into the studio--well, why not? Why not re-record some other songs that never saw the light of day, or only appeared on solo albums? There could be an awesome album's worth of material if you include Firestarter, Bulletproof, Sword and Stone, Shocker, RocknRoll Radio, Time Traveller, Sweet and Dirty Love, It's My Life... That short list was compiled without giving it any thought whatsoever. KISS could pull together an album's worth of material in a matter of days. And Paul Stanley's assertion that he doesn't want to re-record old songs (as a reason for not completing old demo's) no longer has credibility. NEW ALBUM NEW ALBUM |

They probably wanted to hurry up and do it before Kid Rock re-recorded all the songs.
