The ISF Director is absolutely correct about there not being any risk involved...to them. They'll pass their insalnely ever-rising costs on to the exhibitors and vendors. Afterall, you don't increase profit on the ticket to a fair that hasn't increased its service to the exhibitor or vendor.

YEAH! I am all for it. Love the fair. Now, lets bring back some oldies bands for concerts. They always have a good crowd. How about Eric Burdon and the Animals, Chad and Jeremy, Peter and Gordon, The Young Rascals, The Buckinghams, Three Dog Night, The Turtles etc. Now that would be an AWESOME fair.
Hmmm. I kept waiting for you to mention some music entertainment that doesn't bite, like the ones that you mentioned do.

Security? Parking? always a problem...the location of the Fairgrounds in the heart of the ghetto, does not inspire me to take my family to the Fair...this needs to be fixed and again made safe to travel to and attend the Fair.
dude why are you making this a racial thing? ive lived here for 20 yrs and never had a problem at the fair. its narrow minded bigots like you that stir up trouble. i am white and i have never looked at the racial side of this because there is NONE. if you cant take your kids there and have a good time without trying to find something to pick at about the different races, then just dont go. people like you are the reason why we have racial differences. lets just break it down into the simplest terms. if you and a black man stand side by side, and you both cut your fingers, what color is the blood? RED. so what makes you superior? what makes you different? color is just color. its whats in your heart that matters. so to be a better person, look at yourself and ask, what can i do to be a better person? once you do that, then theres one less bigot in the world. to any african american that has been offended---please do not believe that all of us whites are haters. WE ARE NOT. we are equal in Gods eyes. HE sees no color. HE is indifferent to race. HE loves us all and requires us to do the same.

what. are wanting eminem? the music listed is great. dont knock it. its real music, not this rap crap. music went downhill when all the rappers and smut talkers took over. we need to go back to REAL music. back then, music meant something. it was about love and life and being real. not this trash about killing cops and each other and drugs. anymore, thats all we hear. we are tired of it. please bring back the real performers and give us back the real music.

You are absolutely right! They could increase attendance dramatically (with or without extra days) if they would simply offer popular oldies bands for free in the grandstand. The New York State Fair does this and has DOUBLE the attendance, even though they are in a much smaller city (Syracuse). Unfortunately the Indiana Fair hick-mentality mamagement considers dog obedience competitions and goat and swine shows "entertainment".

I agree... maybe if they book real music the riff-raff would stay in their car thinking their bad asses playing that thug sh2t, bom-bum-bom. That sh2t is so old they now have to play it at the gas station while pumping gas or going inside to pay. What ever happen to the noise pollution law? I can hear that sh2t whit my windows closed 4 or 5 cars away. Not so sure I would go back that far with music acts but anything is better then rap-crap.
O-ya... spend some money if you go to the fair not just walk around with your pants down to your knees. That is so not cool anymore, never was!!
But maybe Elvis would have liked eminem, that white boy can play that funky music :)

The best music at the Indiana State Fair is the Circle City Sidewalk Stompers. Now that's REAL MUSIC!!!

AMEN TO YOU!!!!!! if these punks really knew where the sagging fad started, they might think twice about wearing their pants down around their butts. my ex husband is a correstional officer and you can ask anyone in that profession if what im saying is true. men in prison would sag their pants to let other inmates know that they wanted to be someones bit**. that is no lie or exaggeration. this was the way the inmates could let other inmates know that they were there for the "taking". so unless you littel boys want to be someones "bi**h" start wearing your pants like a normal human being.
thank you for backing me up on the issue of real music. i agree---this thumping that they do gives me a headache. i dont know how they dont shatter their windows in the cars.
bring back the oldies!!!! now theres real music

Next time you think about the "hicks" who show livestock, I certainly hope that you don't choke on your pork chop or steak.
I would be willing to bet that most of the kids showing animals are more cultured and well spoken than someone so quick to judge!

You're right, I'm on your side, I think it's wonderful that the kids get the opportunity to show their livestock.
You missed the point entirely...the Indiana Fair will only get a minimal increase in attendance with 5 more days of the same thing. They need to offer a better variety of free entertainment so that they can attract a much wider audience, particularly in a major city such as Indy. This is simple Marketing 101. All of the kids, the farmers and the 4H events would also benefit from much better exposure!

Why does racism and the Daniels administration enter into every forum on this board. I doubt that the Daniels administration was trying to railroad this decision down the throats of the State Fair board. Also I am white and I take offense to the racist bigots that constantly post on these forums. The fair is where it is. I have frequently parked and walked in the neighborhood surrounding the fair. I have never felt scared or intimidated. I would suggest before you bigots peck out your racist statements on your Commodore 64's you might want to think about what you type. It makes you seem even more ignorant than you really are. Then when you are done try running spell check and grammar check.

It is a shame that school has to start so early or more people would be abelto enjoy the fair during the week and not just on weekends. What ever happen to school starting the day after labor day?

Because schools need their "half-days" and "pba days" and "lets make an excuse for another day days". If students went to school m-f 8-3 (or whatever it may be) w/ the only exceptions being the holidays and breaks, this would work fine.

On another note, 38th st is fine during fair time. Yes, I also think it's kind of scary at other times, but you have to remember that there's cops all around the fairgrounds, so it does in fact stay quiet during those precious 2 (or 3 now) weeks.
