There isn't anything in this state that this administration isn't going to target or change. Just go ahead and change years of tradition. We have to have that dollar and who cares if it adds confusion!!!

I think the extension is ok but put it at the begining of the fair so the kids can enjoy it.

I love the Fair! I want to eat delicious food that is terrible for me and people watch like you only can at the State Fair. The more Fair the better! I can't wait.

The fair can't change it's dates that drastically because it's meant to try to tie in with crop seasons and the best available times for those. Hence why county fairs are also right in that same time frame. While I do wish that more kids could enjoy the festivities, it would do more harm than good to make the fair, say, at the end of July.

But as for me, bring on the extra weekend. I'll be there!

Security? Parking? always a problem...the location of the Fairgrounds in the heart of the ghetto, does not inspire me to take my family to the Fair...this needs to be fixed and again made safe to travel to and attend the Fair.

My kids actually start school late enough this August so that we can attend the fair. General Assembly needs to put ISTEP in the spring where it belongs and then pass legislation making it illegal to start school before Labor Day like several other states have. That would allow families to attend the fair and other activities that they can no longer go to because school starts so early. Extending the fair earlier into August is a good idea for those whose kids start school so early into August.

YEAH! I am all for it. Love the fair. Now, lets bring back some oldies bands for concerts. They always have a good crowd. How about Eric Burdon and the Animals, Chad and Jeremy, Peter and Gordon, The Young Rascals, The Buckinghams, Three Dog Night, The Turtles etc. Now that would be an AWESOME fair.

Ghetto? You must not know what a ghetto is, cracker.
Impressive... Cracker? That area's not the safest part of town, and if you new that you would understand. It is what it is. I don't think it was a racist remark as yours was. Yes... five more days of killings, robberies, thefts and probably rapes next. It is what it is and I would advise people to park inside the grounds but that is also risky. More police might work who knows. Maybe extending it 5 more days will lighten the traffic and keep people from having to park outside the fair. Good move for allot of reasons.

Well, for all you negative people out there, here's an idea. Stay home and let the rest of us who LOVE the State Fair enjoy it without having to be bothered with your sour attitudes. If an extra 5 days helps bring in more revenue for our state, what is do bad about that??! Besides, I - like many others - thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Actually the area thjat you are talking about is my neighborhood or at least the back side of the fair is. I am a white guy. I never feel in danger walking through my area even at night. Yes it is primarily black and the homes are old and need of fixing up but we are by no means the ghetto. it is usally the white folk in their SUVs causing wrecks that are the cause of most of the police runs during the fair.
