how lovely.
You get tax-free status for nothing more than calling yourself a church. That's the problem with the automatic tax exemption given to religion. Every other organization that gets tax exemption has to prove that they're non-profit. NO, not churches. We should do away with the tax exemption on all the churches and then have them prove they are a non-profit group. The only thing Grassley is asking is for a little accountability. seems to me, if all these televangelists were doing good and noble things, they'd have no problem opening their books up. shoot, you'd think they'd be proud of what they do, what with them being Christians and all. |
